Customer-specific customization of steel formwork and circulation systems

From development to implementation

Are you in the early planning stages of a construction project or are you involved in the construction of a structure, bridge or tunnel? Or do you produce precast concrete elements? Then it is important to surround yourself with the best and most reliable and experienced partners. In both cases, the right choice of casting molds or complete formwork can make all the difference. Thanks to experience, customized solutions and excellent aftercare, you can work and build faster, more qualitatively and more efficiently. The Hendriks Group from Veenendaal will be pleased to help you with this.

Hendriks precon (HP) and Hendriks steel formwork technology (HSB), both part of the Hendriks Group and together more than 150 employees strong, serve the concrete industry, infrastructure and construction company markets with their innovative steel formwork solutions. Both companies operate under one umbrella and offer integrated total solutions, from development, 3D engineering and production to in-situ assembly and technical support at every stage.

More efficient precast or in-situ pouring of concrete elements

Sustainable and future-oriented construction has given the precast concrete industry new impetus in recent years. Here, too, ever-increasing automation is becoming the norm to meet rising demand. HP fits perfectly within this new philosophy. Kennard van Malenstein, international account manager at HP: "After intensive preparatory consultation with the customer, we can make the most diverse custom formwork in steel. Steel is a particularly durable material with an extremely long life cycle. The molds can be reused indefinitely for a wide variety of precast concrete products, from wide slab floors and retaining walls to prestressed bridge deck girders and just about everything in between. Our steel molds allow for faster and more precise work, saving significant man-hours and ensuring quality. In addition to individual mold designs, we also supply fully automated circulation systems. A development that is increasingly in demand in the context of future-oriented production and construction. Everything completely to the customer's needs and with input from our knowledge and expertise."

HP has also been providing significant added value in the realization of concrete structures for decades for in-situ projects in civil engineering works or civil engineering. Its ingenious, project-specific solutions allow columns, piers, quay walls or entire tunnels to be cast in situ with ease. No project or challenge is too complex. From simple manually operated to fully hydraulic and self-propelled. Steel formwork offers numerous advantages here, including a higher permissible concrete pouring pressure, long slab lengths, fast cycles with a minimum number of center pins required and, above all, a high level of finish. All HP formwork naturally complies with the applicable standards.

Steel wall and tunnel formwork for casting construction

With its wall and tunnel formwork systems, HSB focuses on larger residential, utility and infrastructure projects. Chris van Ree, international account manager at HSB: "With our company we take a very customer-specific approach. As specialists in formwork systems, we are able to advise and think along with our clients from sketch design to completion. Our steel wall and tunnel formwork systems excel in efficiency, quality and allow fast cycles. They provide a clean and smooth appearance, are labor-friendly, low-maintenance, easy to use and safe. Of particular interest is that the wall and tunnel formwork systems can be equipped with auxiliary structures, so that, for example, precast elements can be poured directly into the wall and tunnel cycle. We have a special tunnel in our range for the use of sandwich elements in structural work. Our formwork systems are equipped with all safety devices and the necessary scaffolding. HSB has also developed special half-tunnel formwork for the international market."

Two companies, one common goal

HP and HSB therefore provide, in addition to standard solutions, particularly customized solutions. The two companies work closely together in various areas and the resulting synergy fully benefits the customer. Sharing knowledge and expertise, among themselves but also with customers, always leads to the best solution for each specific realization. Both companies like to be involved in an early phase of a project in order to think proactively. All formwork is designed in a 3D environment, using Revit and Solid Edge software, which facilitates smooth cooperation between all construction partners involved.

The Hendriks Group takes Corporate Social Responsibility very seriously and makes every effort to make its products and production processes as economical and people- and environment-friendly as possible. Moreover, the raw material, steel, is also fully recyclable in terms of residual materials. This contributes greatly to the cradle-to-cradle philosophy.

High-profile projects

The "home market" for its steel formwork is located primarily in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Domestically, HSB is currently contributing to the construction of the imposing residential tower 'Piekstraat' in Rotterdam-Zuid. This project makes use of a combination of tunnel formwork, constructive scaffolding, facade scaffolding and constructive headboard, as a result of which the residential tower is erected, as it were, without traditional scaffolding. The finishing work is combined with the structural erection process. For the use of this specific scaffolding, the facade closure can be directly included in the tunnel process.

In several other projects, the application of precast support in formwork, precast balcony support or the double-acting hydraulic compensating cylinder with remote control has been positively received by customers. HP is working in Belgium on the construction of the new Scheldt Tunnel, the capstone of the Oosterweel connection, on behalf of COTU/Lantis. It was responsible for a double set of formwork for pouring the bottoms, walls, deck walls and the middle tunnel channel, achieving a two-week cycle. But HP also supports the client with customized formwork for the access and exit ramps. In the field of precast, work is currently underway on various prestressed bridge girders up to a length of 48 m. Tensioners of up to 1,800 tons are being designed and built in-house for this purpose. The tension of the prestressed elements is measured automatically and tested against the customer's certifications.

Several high-profile realizations outside Europe are also on its record, including on Curaçao, in Argentina, on the African continent, in Asia and in the Middle East. HP and HSB keep a close finger on the pulse of the concrete industry and thanks to a continuous and close cooperation with their customers, they manage to keep innovating.
