'Our program is broad and versatile. A description of it on a website is never complete. We can do a lot for you and may have exactly the product you are looking for in stock.' At PDS, they make it clear that personal contact is still the best way to find a suitable solution. The company specializes in the manufacture and supply of self-drilling and strand anchors and accessories.
Penen Drilling System, PDS for short and founded in early 2010, specializes in the manufacture and supply of self-drilling and strand anchors and accessories. The Oostmalle-based company is a subsidiary of J. Penen & Co N.V., which has existed since 1957 and produces threaded ends and threaded rods. Its many years of know-how regarding thread rolling also guarantees the quality of its self-drilling anchors. "Such self-drilling anchors can be used as micropiles or soil nails. Micropiles are used as foundation elements, as underpinning of existing foundations or as tension piles under the bottom plates of construction pits and have the advantage that they can be used in many soil types and in limited spaces," says managing director Koen Hannes. "Soil nails enable the absorption of high tensile forces and offer the advantage that they can be applied with small flexible machines in a vibration-free manner, thus reducing disturbance to local residents."
Since 2015, J. Penen & Co and PDS have belonged to Norway's Pretec Group, known as a supplier of fasteners for tunneling, metal construction and the precast industry. That same year, PDS also became the exclusive distributor for Benelux and Scandinavia of CATI strand anchors. "We have since gained a lot of experience with deliveries for projects in the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Finland and Albania," says the managing director. "In recent years, PDS ground anchors have been used in various projects in hydraulic engineering, such as anchoring the renewed Scheldt quays in Antwerp, raising the bridges over the Albert Canal, building several new quay walls in the Port of Antwerp and renewing the quay walls in the Port of Zeebrugge, building new locks in Sint-Baafs-Vijve and Ampsin and renewing the embankments at the Driespoor Bridge in Melle."
All PDS drill pipes are continuously subjected to extensive tensile tests in various laboratories in accordance with NBN EN 10002-1:2020, and a highly comprehensive quality management with interim machine checks, random samples and a final inspection applies to the entire production phase. For the raw materials, the company only uses reliable suppliers. "In addition, all delivered materials undergo a thorough entry check. The achieved ISO9001-2015 quality label and CE conformity certificate assures our customers the continuation of excellent quality in the years to come."
