10 buildings in the race for BNA Best Building 2020

10 buildings in the running for BNA Best Building 2020

The nominees for Holland's premier architecture award have been announced. The professional jury led by former politician Neelie Kroes selected 17 projects from 103 entries. After a jury round through the Netherlands, 10 nominated buildings remained.

In the Private Living Experience category, these are the Tiny Holiday Home on the Vinkeveen Lakes and the House with Tails in Soesterberg. Livability & Social Cohesion is represented by Forum Groningen, the contemporary "church" Domusdela in Eindhoven and Fenix 1 in Rotterdam. Nominated in the Stimulating Environments category are the extension of the Rietveldacademie in Amsterdam and the Werkspoorfabriek in Utrecht, which has been converted into a business center.

And in the Identity & Iconic Value category, Park Pavilion Hoge Veluwe, Museum Naturalis in Leiden and the Tij bird observatory near Stellendam are nominated. All 10 buildings stand a chance of winning the professional jury prize and the public prize, which can be voted for now via https://www.bna.nl/gebouw-van-het-jaar/overzicht/genomineerden

On October 22 the jury will announce which building succeeds the Noord/Zuidlijn as BNA Best Building of the Year, in other words: the building with the most added value for people and society. The jury will also announce the 4 category winners and the public winner and will award honorable mentions to 2 (non nominated) buildings.
