Meco Metal Construction Steel NV invests in Trumpf Trulaser 1060 Fiber for Sheet Metal Processing.

Due to increasing demand for steel structures for industry and growth within the Altez Group is Meco Metal searched for a suitable answer for its sheet metal operations.

Conventional plasma was no longer adequate, both qualitatively and quantitatively, for Meco Metal's productions.

"In the search for the best solution, we went from a long to a short list through a sophisticated selection process." Explains Harry Seijkens, Managing Director Meco Metal.

Seijkens continued, "In this process, the known market leaders came out well and we finally made the well-considered decision, based on quality, knowledge and price, to partner again with V.A.C Machines nv the dealer of Trumpf machines for the Belgian market, among others. The period from purchase to commissioning was particularly well planned by both parties over several phases. Here the delivery time and delivery were exactly adhered to as planned, as a result of which Meco Metal has now already included the machine within its production."

According to Seijkens, the quality of the cutting pieces is perfect resulting in ease of assembly. Deburring has also become completely unnecessary.

The machine has 6 KW of laser power, enough to fill the basic needs now and in the future. The exchange beds ( 6000 x 2000 mm) are now the new challenge, where before I had to wait for the cutting speed of the plasma, now clearing the beds with the cut pieces is the new challenge.

The user-friendliness is remarkable to experience where previously our operators needed months to get to grips with the machine, they now appear to be off with a few days.

About the cooperation with V.A.C., Seijkens says: "Good documentation and personal guidance from V.A.C. as well as strong project management from Meco Metal were the basis for this success project. Programmers and operators were trained on time, a stable floor, gas supply, compressed air, network connections, transport, safety and cabling. Everything was arranged well and on time."

Finally, Seijkens says with a laugh, "Our fiber laser went into service on Monday, Sept. 27 last, as per the agreement. "Since then, the control window of the new machine has been the most visited window in the entire production."
