From a unique partnership between WijWelbetonmixers and Transportonderhoud Nieuwegein, a new generation of truck mixers has emerged. The first example was presented to the general public at the beginning of September this year during the Kipper Event in Markelo and immediately delivered to Albeton afterwards. The spiritual father behind this new concept is Sjaak van der Wel, with decades of experience in the truck mixer industry.
For more than forty years, Sjaak van der Wel has worked in various positions within the bodywork construction of truck mixers. After the bankruptcy of Mulder Boskoop in 2000, he took on the challenge of putting the company back on the map; and with success. In 2019 he sold his shares, but the blood creeps where it cannot go. With WijWelbetonmixers, he is setting a new benchmark. Together with his associate John van Wijk of Transportonderhoud Nieuwegein, he has thoroughly scrutinized every part of the traditional truck mixer and improved it where necessary. The first example was well received at the Kipper Event and is now widely used.
According to Van der Wel, the WijWelbeton mixer is distinguished by a fully hot-dip galvanized lower frame. "In terms of the modifications to the standard chassis into a Wide Spread, we work closely with Veldhuizen and with Wierda Voertuig Techniek for the drive train. Furthermore, the construction of the truck mixer no longer involves welding. The mixer is designed in such a way that everything can be screwed together. This simplifies the assembly process and prevents damage to already conserved parts by welding spatter. The latter is commonplace with traditional truck mixers, resulting in the first signs of corrosion after only a few years. A big advantage is also that truck owners can replace parts themselves, for example. If a fender is damaged, it is a matter of unscrewing it and fitting a new fender. By the way, our fenders are made of stainless steel, so no corrosion will occur there either."
WijWelbetonmixers builds the truck mixer entirely to customer specifications. "Our range varies from mixers with a capacity of 6 to 17 m3," says Van der Wel. "Besides truck mixers, we also supply stationary mixers and 'specials' for factories. Think of special plastic mixers. Basically, anything is possible, including in terms of propulsion." For service and maintenance, WijWelbetonmixers uses the expertise of Transportonderhoud Nieuwegein. "It has a huge workshop and a large stock of parts of all brands. Moreover, it also takes care of inspections, both the APK of the truck and the periodic inspection of the mixer. And in case of breakdown on the road, 24/7 roadside assistance is on standby. In short, the combination of WijWelbetonmixers and Transportonderhoud Nieuwegein provides an extremely reliable and high-quality solution. We have high expectations of the new truck mixer. The first orders have already been written."
