Recruitment agency with an understanding of people and technology

In the construction industry, there is a constant struggle for personnel. There is a great shortage of suitable and qualified personnel at all levels. Michel Uijlenbroek, director of TECHNICHE, notices this every day. With 33 years of experience as a recruiter in technology, he still knows how to make a difference. "We are very good at putting ourselves in the shoes of the market, our clients as well as potential candidates and that pays off."

TECHNICHE specializes in bringing people and clients together in technical disciplines for MBO, college and university graduates. "Starters, mid-careers and experienced engineers work throughout the Netherlands so that our clients don't miss out on projects in these challenging times of staff shortages," says Uijlenbroek. "Of course, engaging a recruitment and selection agency simply involves an investment but pays off handsomely. Because we attach great value to the extensive screening of candidates - and in this we are truly unique - we almost always manage to match the right person to the right vacancy. More than 94% of the candidates we place eventually enter permanent employment with our client."

Learning

TECHNICHE's services therefore go much further than sec recruiting personnel. Uijlenbroek: "We really go in depth, put ourselves in the candidate's shoes and discuss the wishes and ambitions, in which bandwidth someone wants to work, whether he or she wants to grow in the organization or just in a certain specialty and so on. These are things that we record very clearly as an agency. Of course, we also always check references. That does not have to be 100% normative, but we do see that it gives an extra direction. It is preferable to bring in a candidate who is ambitious and eager to work rather than someone who has already 'flown the coop' after three months. Because we understand the technology, so we know what is required, and because we really put ourselves in the candidate's shoes, we can assess whether a candidate is suitable for the job or whether he or she is almost there. The latter is perhaps even more important: letting people grow and giving them new stimuli all the time. That is the only reason that keeps work fun. In fact, I believe that learning is the most essential basic aspect of life. If you don't learn, every day becomes more boring."

Nurture staff

"What we particularly stress to companies is that they need to nurture staff. There are many companies that flaunt it, but practice proves more stubborn," Uijlenbroek notes. He encourages companies to actively invest in staff so that people feel valued and welcome. "This applies not only to new employees, but certainly also to 'old-timers'. When someone leaves in a department, for whatever reason, the workload for others tends to increase. This can cause a chain reaction and you want to avoid that at all costs. Therefore, do business with a good agency with an eye for people and the market. We are NEN 4400-certified, VCU-certified, affiliated with the Labor Standards Foundation (Stichting Normering Arbeid) and follow legislation closely. Our people are paid in the same way as permanent employees, entirely in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement in force in the concrete and steel construction industry."

Labor brokerage is investing in personnel, Uijlenbroek sums up. "We have an extensive network of companies ranging from a sole proprietorship to our largest client with 428,000 employees worldwide. "
