Lokeren-based i-Theses bv develops software and web-based digital solutions for the design and production of elements in reinforced and prestressed concrete. Rony Verlee, business manager of i-Theses has been advocating an integrated approach in this field for years. Just being able to make a 3D BIM model is not enough. It only really pays off when all steps, from quotation and design to delivery and invoicing, are part of the same digital flow. Meanwhile, i-Theses solutions are already being used in more than 20 countries.
Verlee: "The great thing about our software packages and digital solutions is that they link all data together: from inquiry, study, planning, quotation and initial design through production planning, control of machines, quality control and stockyard management to delivery and invoicing. From first contact to delivery, so to speak. And this for all prefab elements such as walls, floors, stairs, beams, ... Important is that all data only have to be entered once."
"Project management is greatly simplified with our web-based tools, which can be consulted anytime, anywhere, platform-independent and through most browsers," Verlee said. "Currently, we are even looking at the possibility of giving other actors, such as the architects and contractors involved, controlled access to this platform as well."
In the course of the process, additional data can easily be added. Among other things, this can be done by scanning QR codes at the time of storage, transport, placement, ... In this way, it is possible to further expand the classic quality control. When, for example, a problem comes to light in this way, immediate action can be taken via the Quality Control module. If a repair or replacement is necessary, the appropriate people are notified. In the latter case, the element is automatically retaken for production planning.
Logistics can now also be handled faster and more accurately. Automatic communication is set up via e-mail and SMS with the company's own transport service or with an external carrier. The site manager is also automatically notified of what, where and when something is delivered to the customer or on the construction site.
Of course, administration also gains from a digital approach. When a job/order is ready and/or delivered, the follow-up is much faster and an invoicing order is created automatically. The correctness of the administrative data also need not be in doubt. If the initial data input was correct, these data are automatically included throughout the streamlined process from first contact with the customer to final delivery.
