Most of the grout installation on the Hofvijver came from Germany, while the pumps came from Sweden. The Stadhouderspoort is located at the bottom right.

For five months, a bright yellow grout plant stood on the Hofvijver pond in The Hague in front of the buildings of the Senate. The large letters made it unmistakably clear that Keller, the world's largest foundation company, was working on the renovation of the Binnenhof. Last year, the Stadhouderspoort was reinforced with innovative soilcrete® lamellas. Between June and October of this year, the foundations of the Senate were also addressed using this jet grouting technique. And there is more to come.

Keller, which started out as a well builder, has been in existence since 1860. Last century, this German company discovered jet grouting in Japan and further developed this technique. Through continuous investment and innovation, Keller has even grown to become the global market leader in foundation technology. The company is active on six continents and has around ten thousand employees and a wide range of high-quality foundation techniques at its disposal.

Although Keller Funderingstechnieken Benelux has only a limited number of FTEs, it can rely on the people and equipment of the entire organization, explains Benelux manager Marcel Mertens. “We are a small club, but in fact we represent a large organization. For example, Keller is perfectly capable of creating its own designs for complex projects. For the Binnenhof, this was a French constructor who worked well with chief constructor ABT. In terms of equipment, virtually everything is available internally, like a huge toolbox that we can use. The Binnenhof requires a lot of pumping capacity, which has to come from different locations. Most of the grout installation on the Hofvijver came from Germany and one of the pumps from Sweden. VSF currently requires a lot of power, which is why these were diesel-powered pumps. An electric pump was used for the Stadhouderspoort, of which there are only six in the world. Keller also has this in-house. This enables us, as a small organization, to carry out and supervise large, complex projects. Next year, we will be working on the Council of State. Perhaps we will be able to advertise on the Hofvijver again.”
