Leading foundation specialist on acquisition path

Although Terracon Funderingstechniek is a 100% subsidiary of Strukton, it operates completely independently. The foundation specialist offers a wide range of solutions for large and complex foundation issues. With the recent acquisition of Tubex BV, Terracon strengthens its unique position in the market and offers a total package for industry, chemistry and the rail-civil environment.

Terracon Funderingstechniek specializes in the advice, design and realization of foundation elements consisting of both drilled and driven pile systems. "We can handle all types of pile systems," says director Benjamin Bekhof. "This means that we are called in for the most diverse projects, such as realizing foundations within the petrochemical and industrial sectors as well as in the rail-civil environment. In the latter category in particular, we are now strengthening our position through the acquisition of Tubex BV, which specializes in installing foundation piles in challenging locations."

Complex segment

Tubex BV will be fully absorbed into the corporate structure of Terracon Funderingstechniek, which will include all employees. "We are pleased that the management of Verstraeten, former co-owner, has given us the confidence to take over Tubex BV," said Bekhof. "Integrated into Terracon, we will ensure continuity of operations in the complex segment. We will therefore no longer use the company name Tubex BV, the Tubex product name for foundation piles in confined spaces, on the other hand, will of course remain. We will continue our good cooperation with Verstraeten for specific foundation solutions with great professionalism and pleasure."

Partner

The acquisition also significantly expands Terracon's machinery fleet. Bekhof: "We already had nine machines for the middle and heavy segment and now we will add another five machines for the more specialized foundation projects. From now on we can serve the market broadly as one organization at a high (Terracon) quality level. We prefer to bring in our expertise as early in the process as possible in order to come up with the best foundation solution as a partner and thus reduce failure costs, execution time and environmental pollution for customers. We are currently working with various scaffolds at a large refinery in the Europoort where we are also making direct use of the expertise of Tubex BV. We will also continue to explore the rail environment together with our 'big sister' Strukton Rail."

"Our customers benefit from the advantages of a large group combined with the decisiveness of an independent and broadly oriented player. That bodes well for the future," Bekhof concludes.
