The appearance of aesthetic concrete where the surface has been deliberately left exposed requires extra attention from the parties involved. The designer has come up with a particular image and needs to capture it properly so that the performing parties understand what the designer has in mind and how to realize that image.
In CUR Recommendation 100 'Clean concrete' it is recommended to draw up a work plan for clean concrete. Betonhuis Cement has set up a Model work plan for this purpose; CUR Recommendation 100 itself refers to this model.
Henk Oude Kempers, Clean Concrete Expertise: "The Model Clean Concrete Work Plan is a useful tool for designers to determine which external features of the appearance of concrete they want to record. After all, the characteristics are partly determined by the production method and type of formwork chosen."
The Model work plan provides a basis in texts that can be included as an appendix to the specifications. In addition, suggestions are given as to which aspects should be selected. Thus, no aspects of execution are skipped that partly affect the aesthetic appearance.
Cindy Vissering of the platform Tektoniek: "The update of the Model Clean Concrete Work Plan gives parties a tool in which they can record which agreements are important in the aesthetic result. "
The Model Work Plan is based on CUR Recommendation 100 'Clean concrete - specification, execution and assessment of concrete surfaces subject to aesthetic requirements'. This CUR Recommendation provides guidance in the collaboration and specification from design to execution.
The CUR Recommendation and the Model Workplan deal specifically with concrete class B1 where high demands are placed on the concrete surface. For class B2, prefabrication with very high aesthetic requirements, these publications can also be supportive. Class B9 is a free class, in which even more specific requirements can be indicated. Both publications can serve as a basis here, but this class requires more project-specific instructions.

There is much more on Tektonics about the design and implementation aspects of in-situ concrete, both cast-in-place and precast architectural concrete.
