Complex construction for powder coating plant

In Wehl, Reijrink Staalconstructie is helping to build Ansova's new powder coating plant. Project Manager Tim van Dun: "Before Christmas, we erected just under 1,100 tons of steel. It is a complex construction, but that is not a problem for us."

Reijrink Staalconstructie is now building the powder coating plant where its own steel will soon be treated. "Yes, that is kind of special," Van Dun says with a laugh. "The fact that we produce the steel in a certain way and generate our own energy is important to Ansova because the company is also going to powder coat in an environmentally friendly way. Overall, we find that sustainability is increasingly important to clients."

The large production hall, 240 meters long and ±14,000 m2 in size, was completed in week 41. "It is our core business to do such large projects. We do our own engineering and our machinery is fully equipped for this. Making meters and popping kilos, that's what we're good at." In week 50, Reijrink started construction of the office, warehouse and hall for loading and unloading.

The construction of the production hall is quite complex, which is necessary for the machinery that will be underneath.

Profiles adapted to interior construction

"To a layman, such large halls look very similar, but that is far from the case. We don't sell any standard product and offer custom work for every client." For Ansova, the main structural engineering was located elsewhere, while Reijrink provided the detailed calculations. "We realized the design largely as envisioned, except for minor changes. The construction of the production hall is quite complex, which is necessary for the machinery that will be underneath. No columns in the field and of course the hall had to be able to cope with that. Therefore, in some cases profile selection and quality was adjusted."

Assembly with a tower crane was chosen.

Welding robot takes work off your hands

During this production, Reijrink also used the Fabricator, the company's welding robot. "It's great that he was able to contribute. We are the first in the world to use this welding robot. The advantage of the Fabricator is that the production of the various parts is carried out much more efficiently; it is operated by one operator."

Reijrink had to build right along power lines.

Van Dun talks about the peculiarities that occurred during construction: "On the construction site there was a transformer house of the network operator that fed a certain part of the industrial area. This transformer house was positioned on the site in such a way that it was in the middle of the side wall of the production hall, and the network operator was unable to move it within the requested deadline. Therefore, the facade had to be modified, the steel was mounted around the transformer house. In the end, the little house was moved a few weeks after the side wall was mounted. Furthermore, we had to build right next to high voltage lines. We opted for assembly with a tower crane so that we were working within the safe zone. Safe working goes above everything, of course!"
