DS Elcobyg, a major player in the precast concrete industry in Scandinavia, has taken an important step in modernizing its operations by implementing the ERPbos software solution. The previous system could no longer be renewed; therefore, the company was looking for a more advanced and flexible system that could meet its growing demands. In addition, the company invested in automated machinery for its rebar operations to increase production efficiency.

DS Elcobyg is a total supplier of concrete solutions, designing, manufacturing and supplying for all types of construction projects in Denmark. The company has more than 180 employees and operates from its headquarters in Hobro. It also has production facilities in Genner, southern Jutland. As part of DS Gruppen, which is owned by the German construction group GOLDBECK, DS Elcobyg supplies a wide range of building elements such as facade panels, load-bearing structures and customized concrete solutions. The company emphasizes streamlined production and sustainability, in line with the industry's increasing demands for sustainable and environmentally friendly construction.

Since the introduction of ERPbos, DS Elcobyg benefits from several advantages, including:
- Improved visual overview:
“We now have a much clearer picture of our production planning, allowing us to react more quickly to changes,” says Carsten Sørensen Kronborg, production manager at DS Elcobyg.
- Increased employee engagement:
More employees have access to real-time data, reducing inefficiencies and improving coordination.
- Optimized sales and logistics:
Order entry, production planning, load planning and billing are now integrated into one system, reducing errors and manual work.
- Future scalability:
Currently the system is used by 20 employees, but the company expects to expand usage to 50 employees as operations grow.
ERPbos is now seamlessly connected to multiple systems that DS Elcobyg relies on, including Branel, Bluebeam, IPW, F-Link and NAV. These integrations ensure smooth data exchange and operational consistency across departments.
DS Elcobyg also invested in the automation of its rebar operations with machinery from Progress Group, including the
M-System BlueMesh® machine for welding reinforcement mats and an MSR 20 machine for automatic straightening, cutting and bending. After a thorough analysis of the options on the market, it was found that Progress' machines best suited the production needs. The advantages of the automated rebar machines:
- Custom production:
“The machines are ideal for an element factory like ours, where the products vary greatly,” explains Sørensen Kronborg.
- Less waste:
The materials are now cut to the exact size of each element, resulting in significantly less waste.
- Increased efficiency:
Automating key processes accelerated production and improved overall consistency.
-Future development and digitization goals.
Going forward, DS Elcobyg plans to continue its digital transformation with:
- EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations):
To support sustainability initiatives.
- Inventory Management:
Better traceability of materials will help reduce inventory shortages and optimize production.
- Timekeeping:
Improving productivity monitoring.
- Paperless production:
“In the long run, we aim to eliminate paper drawings completely,” Sørensen Kronborg said.
The decision to partner with Progress Group was based on extensive market research. “We chose Progress because it has its own precast plant and builds machines specifically tailored to our industry,” explains Sørensen Kronborg. “Progress really understands our needs.”

With software and rebar machines from Progress Group, DS Elcobyg has taken an important step toward greater efficiency, less waste and future scalability. Although implementation initially presented some challenges, the benefits of digital transformation are already proving invaluable. As the company continues to expand its automation and use of software, DS Elcobyg is well positioned for long-term success in an increasingly competitive industry.
