A well thought-out plan for the realization of eye-catcher Gymworld

The complex steel structure for the new Gymworld building in Zoetermeer was delivered and assembled by Hofman Staalbouw BV. The company worked intensively with all parties involved in the BIM process to come up with innovative and smart solutions, which enabled them to realize this unique design on a tight construction site and in a short time frame.

Part of the complexity of this project lies in the fact that the building floats above the ground via piles. "The building is composed of several cantilevered blocks," said director Martijn Oosterhuis. "Thanks to a well-thought-out phasing with an extensive assembly plan, we have identified all risks in order to build safely, flawlessly, in a structured way and in a short time frame with all parties involved."

The construction consists of approximately 650 tons of steel structure. Also, during the assembly of the steel structure, Hofman Staalbouw BV took the approx. 5,000 m² of hollow core slabs and all prefabricated stand elements. "All in all it was a project full of challenges. Thanks in part to the very fine cooperation with Remmers Bouwgroep, we put our shoulders to the wheel together with great pleasure - despite the time pressure. This resulted in a beautiful final result."
