Reijrink Staalconstructie from Hilvarenbeek, in collaboration with Skellet from Genk, has developed an innovative steel construction solution that enables completely modular and circular construction. The heart of the system is formed by a cross-shaped connecting piece, on which box sections can be attached in any direction. Where traditional welding is necessary, Skellet uses self-centering blind rivets that provide an extremely dimensionally stable connection. This allows the entire structure to be easily disassembled and reused over time.
The tools required are minimal: a sawing machine, a punch-nibbling machine and a rivet gun are sufficient to set up a structure. This simplicity and modularity make the system particularly suitable for Design & Build projects, where flexibility and speed are key.

Thanks to the clever profiling of the Skellet profiles and the 25 mm grid, significantly less material can be used. For equal spans and load capacities, up to 60% less steel can be used. This results in significant cost savings as well as a lower CO2 footprint. Less weight also means lower transport costs and easier handling on the construction site. An additional advantage is the high assembly speed: construction time can be reduced by up to 50%, resulting in faster project delivery. The combination of lower material costs and time savings makes Skellet an attractive alternative for contractors and clients alike.

Despite significant material reduction, large spans and high loads remain possible. The tubular profiles with recessed surfaces provide a strong, stable connection and reduce the sensitivity to error during design and installation. This makes the system widely applicable: from industrial halls, sheds and mezzanine floors to grandstands, residential construction, cold and freezer cells and support structures for solar panels. The modular nature makes it easy to adapt or expand the structure as needs change, without the need to redesign or remanufacture large sections.

The Skellet system is distinguished by its complete reusability. When disassembled, all profiles and connectors remain intact and immediately reusable. Only the rivets are lost. This makes the system not only technically but also economically reusable. In a sector in which circularity is becoming increasingly important, Skellet offers a practical solution for closing material flows and extending the lifespan of steel structures. In doing so, Reijrink makes a valuable contribution to the transition to a more sustainable construction sector.
To ensure the value of circular profiles, Skellet Belgium is introducing the Skellet SAFE Guarantee. This unique guarantee provides a refund of up to 133% of the purchase value after fifteen years. Each profile is branded and digitally registered, creating a transparent and reliable second-hand platform. This allows clients to dismantle their structures after use and reuse or sell the profiles. Buyers know exactly where the materials come from thanks to registration and can trust the quality. This encourages a thriving second-hand market and makes the move to a circular economy concrete and profitable.
With Skellet, Reijrink Staalconstructie underscores its reputation as one of the greenest and most innovative steel builders in the Netherlands. By continuously investing in sustainability and digitalization, Reijrink continues to reduce the ecological footprint of its projects. The cooperation with Skellet accelerates the development of circular solutions within the steel construction industry and sets a new standard for future-proof, flexible and responsible construction.
