Modular construction without welding

Reijrink Staalconstructie from Hilvarenbeek, in collaboration with Skellet from Genk, has developed an innovative steel construction solution that enables completely modular and circular construction. The heart of the system is formed by a cross-shaped connecting piece, on which box sections can be attached in any direction. Where traditional welding is necessary, Skellet uses self-centering blind rivets that provide an extremely dimensionally stable connection. This allows the entire structure to be easily disassembled and reused over time.

The tools required are minimal: a sawing machine, a punch-nibbling machine and a rivet gun are sufficient to set up a structure. This simplicity and modularity make the system particularly suitable for Design & Build projects, where flexibility and speed are key.

Less steel, lower cost

Thanks to the clever profiling of the Skellet profiles and the 25 mm grid, significantly less material can be used. For equal spans and load capacities, up to 60% less steel can be used. This results in significant cost savings as well as a lower CO2 footprint. Less weight also means lower transport costs and easier handling on the construction site. An additional advantage is the high assembly speed: construction time can be reduced by up to 50%, resulting in faster project delivery. Despite significant material reduction, large spans and high loads remain possible. The tubular profiles with recessed surfaces provide a strong, stable connection and reduce the sensitivity to error during design and installation.
