Precast concrete today is much more than a building material. It symbolizes efficiency, durability and customization. They know this better than anyone at LG Concrete. For more than sixty years, the company has been delivering quality concrete elements, but its ambition extends beyond production. LG Beton wants to be the total partner for construction projects, from design to completion.
Whereas builders used to knock on the door of different suppliers for individual elements, at LG Beton they notice a clear trend. “Customers are looking for a single point of contact,” says managing director Jurgen Vanelderen. LG Beton responds to this by offering a wide range of products. “We are known for our classic products such as façade panels in various quality finishes, reinforced beams and columns and foundation beams, but are continually expanding our range to include stand elements, custom floor slabs and non-daily concrete products. Customers can deposit their entire package with LG Concrete.”
Concrete may be sturdy and robust, but Vanelderen says the relationship with the customer actually requires flexibility. That's why LG Beton puts a strong emphasis on service. “That starts with a clear and fast quotation process and continues through to correct invoicing,” he says. “Throughout the entire process there is an eye for smooth communication, punctual deliveries and close involvement with customers and transporters. Our internal drawing department also has an important role in this. With clear plans and efficient dossier handling, they prepare production optimally. And they do not hesitate to implement optimizations where necessary. This not only ensures profitability, but also customization that perfectly matches the client's wishes.”
Standing still is going backwards, especially in the construction industry. LG Concrete continuously invests in research and development to improve products and bring new solutions to market. “We have an R&D department with its own laboratory for extensive research,” says Vanelderen. “In doing so, we work closely with external partners. The focus is on innovation in concrete compositions, CO2 reduction, weight optimization and new finishing options.”
A notable trend at LG Concrete is the shift from purely functional industrial applications to exposed concrete. “Aesthetics and quality are getting more and more attention,” according to Vanelderen. “Higher walls, diversification in surfaces and stricter visual requirements mean that precast concrete plays a much more prominent role in construction and architecture today. We are therefore increasingly making different elements than we were used to until a few years ago. And for that we are investing in new production techniques, such as advanced tables, and working with adapted mixtures.”
LG Beton's core market extends over a radius of some 200 kilometers around home port Bree, with projects in the Benelux, France and Germany. Yet the ambition extends further. “Dossiers are also being worked out for projects in countries such as Spain, Latvia, Poland and Hungary,” says Vanelderen. “That requires creative solutions around transport and anchoring elements, but at the same time provides valuable insights to work more efficiently closer to home as well. Literally pushing boundaries thus helps to raise the bar internally as well.”
LG Concrete celebrated its 60th anniversary last year. “Some employees belong to the third generation within the same family. Surely that is something to be proud of,” Vanelderen rightly states. “Our employees, along with our long-standing, regular customers are the basis for the dynamism that can be observed throughout our company.” It proves not only the stability, but also the dedication with which LG Concrete was built and continues to grow. “The future of our precast concrete lies in perfect customization, sustainability and total service.
