Over 5,000 m2 of panel formwork for the EdeSpoort project

Under the name Spoorzone Ede, contractor combination EdeSpoort, consisting of VolkerWessels Infrastructure (Van Hattum and Blankevoort and VolkerRail) and Van Wijnen Arnhem is building a new Ede-Wageningen station on behalf of ProRail and together with the municipality of Ede and NS.

The project involves renewal of the station, two new platform tunnels, a slow traffic viaduct and renewal of the railroad infrastructure in the station area. It will be an accessible, easily accessible and sustainable station with modern facilities for travelers. Among other things, there will be a new bus station, new bicycle racks, better walking and cycling routes and more parking spaces. For all necessary concrete work such as edge formwork, wall formwork, formwork for the sliding boxes, edge formwork for the deck, retaining walls, piers, bottomless pits, bicycle viaduct, abutments, slabs for the railroad deck, slabs for the bicycle tunnel, formwork for the planters and walls for the loading/unloading zones, the Tricon steel panel formwork of Construx is used.

Low weight, high compressive strength

This panel formwork belongs to the category of steel panel formwork and can be used on any construction site, where concrete walls, columns or beams need to be poured in an economical way. The weight of this steel formwork is relatively low. At the same time, this panel formwork is very robust and boasts a high compressive strength of 80 kN/m2. The panels remain easy to handle by crane. The construction of the Construx Tricon panels consists of a galvanized and powder-coated steel frame, a plywood panel of 18 mm with a coating of 220 g/m², a panel screwed along the back, a profiled side and steel tapered tie-down bushings. Connecting the panels is done with the Tricon tension clamp. The fitting beam - with a length of 850 mm - has integrated hooks and can be used universally to strengthen and align connections between panels. Straight corners are made by clamping together an inside corner on the inside and two wall panels on the outside or a wall panel and universal panel with a Tricon tension clamp. Sharp and obtuse corners are made by using stainless steel hinged corners on both sides.

3D elaboration

Van Hattum en Blankevoort trusted Construx to design and supply all the necessary panel formwork including accessories for the realization of the new station. To avoid execution errors, Construx has chosen, in consultation with Van Hattum en Blankevoort, to work out the whole project completely in 3D.
