Since 1983, Matrix Software has specialized in the development of construction automation. For example, IC-Prefab is an example of a powerful and proven application for the precast flooring and wall industry. One of the most recent developments is IC-Prefab for Revit, a versatile and powerful CAD/CAM software for direct factory control of wide slab, hollow core slab and rib cage floors, among others.
"IC-Prefab is basically the collective name for a large number of software modules that can all be linked together," begins Jan Willem Fokkema of Matrix Software. The first solutions date back to the 1990s, based on AutoCAD. "In recent years, design and production based on a Building Information Model (BIM) has taken off. Reason for us to invest in IC-Prefab for Revit. After an extensive test period in cooperation with some renowned concrete precast plants, the CAD/CAM software is now ready for 'the general public'."
According to Fokkema, several concrete plants and drawing offices are already working with IC-Prefab for Revit to their full satisfaction. The software enables companies to take the model of the designer of a structure as a starting point to arrive at a production model. By simply clicking on elements, or "pulling over" elements if necessary, production models are defined. The production model is then further detailed with all provisions for collapses, fixings and connections, after which all data is available for controlling the machines in the factory. "What makes the software further interesting is that the reinforcement for the rebar robots is generated automatically," Fokkema explains. "IC-Prefab lends itself very well to generating a producible reinforcement mesh in Revit, which in the case of a wide slab floor also includes all the pouring provisions and tolerances. This makes the software truly unique. Every millimeter drawn is also produced and delivered."
