Precast concrete total solution for new building Prodrive Technologies

From an ultramodern production facility at the Ecofactorij in Apeldoorn, Preco lays a solid foundation for its customers to complete small and large-scale utility construction projects efficiently, sustainably and in a customized manner. During the construction of a new office building for electronics company Prodrive Technologies at Son & Breugel Science Park, the company led by director Theo Kool once again demonstrated its qualities. This time by supplying all prefabricated concrete elements for the project.

As a total supplier, Preco is able to complete any construction project. This is invariably done with a constant and sharp focus on sustainability. For example, Preco signs up for a substantial reduction in CO2 emissions, including by adding a minimum amount of cement to the concrete mixtures. Furthermore, within the company walls, the focus is high on smart production processes, strongly reduced energy consumption and continuous renewal and optimization of internal processes. It is an approach that provides appropriate added value to Preco's name, activities and expertise. 

Total concept

The new building of Prodrive Technologies at Son & Breugel Science Park is a fine new reference for Preco. The project involves the realization of a brand new building of seven floors, each 5 meters high. The total area of the new building, which is connected to the existing main building via a two-story walkway, is approximately 21,000 m2. During the challenging project, the Apeldoorn-based precast specialist once again proved what it has to offer. Project Manager Gilian van Lith explains Preco's contribution in more detail. "For this project we are supplying, among other things, the concrete wall elements, stairs and landings. In total, this involves about 6,000 m2. We are also providing the building with 110 columns, 250 beams and over 15,000 m2 of hollow-core slabs. In short, here too we are providing a total prefab concept."

Alignment 

The project was characterized by a relatively short engineering process, as it turned out. It is a fact that made clear communication and quick switching between the construction partners involved an absolute must. "Together with main contractor Wijnen Bouw and our regular partner Van Boxsel Engineering from Oosterhout, we have committed to close coordination of the work to be carried out. By opting for weekly mutual consultation, we achieved the intended end result quickly and without too many bumps," said Van Lith, who also gives two other parties involved well-deserved kudos. "The play and storage space on the construction site is quite limited. As a result, the shipments have to be precisely coordinated on a daily and time level so that the continuity of the work is not disrupted, the required concrete elements are available at the right time and the trucks do not have to wait for each other. Thanks to the flawless cooperation between our own transport planner, Mammoet's mechanics and the transport company we hired, we will succeed in getting the concrete elements to the right place without any delays."
