It began in 1978 as a modest workshop near the home of Arie and Ria Kandt, where there was plenty of welding and tinkering on machines to better serve customers. Under the leadership of son Marco, the family business then grew into a leading contracting and foundation company. The same mentality still forms the basis of Kandt: creating solutions yourself where standard methods fall short. This makes it a reliable partner in foundation engineering for concrete and steel construction, rail and civil engineering.

“Adapting and developing our own equipment is still one of our unique areas of expertise,” says Kandt. “Our broad technical base allows us to respond to the specific circumstances on each project. Every job is different in terms of situation, complexity and challenges. By continuing to innovate, providing customized solutions as well as investing in sustainability, we make almost every project feasible and doable.”
Kandt's added value is not only in technology and its own machinery, but also in craftsmanship and the ability to cooperate early on. “It's nice when you can build on the years of expertise of our people,” he adds. “On that basis, as a subcontractor, we actively think along with the (im)possibilities of each specific project. Good preparation and constructive cooperation are essential for this.”

Kandt performs a wide range of foundation work: from pile foundations and cofferdams to sheet piling and combi walls. The company also provides appropriate solutions in challenging situations, such as inner-city areas or locations with height restrictions. Thanks to an extensive and partly in-house developed machine park, Kandt can use almost any foundation technique:
“We are both executively and technically strong,” says Kandt. “We help think about structural details from the beginning, provide execution support and deploy the right equipment - under a variety of conditions such as from the water, by the railroad or in limited working space and without compromising on safety or quality.”

An important spearhead is making the machinery fleet more sustainable. Kandt is investing in low-emission and low-vibration work with self-developed machines, including a new LeKa drill. “This operates entirely electrically or via a Stage V fuel engine if the site requires it,” says Kandt. In addition, Kandt has an 80-ton electric telescopic crawler crane and an electric auxiliary crane for sheet pile work. “Sustainable construction requires more than green ambitions. It requires smart technology, energy-efficient equipment and professionals who know what's going on in the field.”
Kandt is NEN-EN 1090-2 certified and performs all welding work up to execution class 4 entirely in-house. The new welding and construction workshop of no less than 4,000 m2 will be commissioned next year and equipped with solar panels and heat pumps. “This will make us largely self-sufficient in energy,” says Kandt. “The workshop not only ensures more control, quality and shorter lead times, but also makes the production process even more sustainable.”
With decades of experience, specialized machinery and a team of skilled craftsmen, Kandt builds the foundation of every project. Kandt: “With an eye for technology, cooperation and sustainability, we ensure that every construction starts with a strong foundation.”
