Occupational safety requires risk-oriented training and practice

Creating safety means thinking about risk

Safety within the organization and work environment is obviously important. But where do you begin to implement an effective safety policy? It may seem sufficient, but complying with government regulations alone is not enough. A safe organization requires an understanding of risks and a customized approach with regular training and practice.

Government safety regulations provide a foundation, but in practice prove insufficient to guarantee safety on the shop floor. Real safety is not created by requiring FAFS officers, shift supervisors and prevention workers to comply with government regulations. It requires professional risk thinking. With risk analyses, modular safety training and exercises, BHV.NL offers organizations support in the practical implementation of an optimal safety policy.

Risk Thinking

This practical implementation begins with thinking from a different perspective, namely risk thinking. BHV.NL's safety experts first examine where there are risks within the company. Once these are mapped out, they make, together with the organization, a safety ambition plan (a multi-year plan in which you set safety goals for the future) and help with their realization. In this way they prepare the organization as well as possible for risks. BHV.NL trains employees and then exercises with them to deal with risky situations as safely as possible and to become optimally attuned to each other.

The safety ambition plan

The safety ambition plan is an important part of the safety policy in which BHV.NL assists companies. BHV.NL has gained more than 28 years of experience in a variety of industries. By supplementing this knowledge with the information derived from the specific company analysis, it can develop modular customized training courses that are fully tailored to the organization. The trainings preferably take place on the shop floor, where work situations are simulated as closely as possible. During the training courses, professional trainers check for each part whether the participants have mastered the required competencies and demonstrate certainty in acting. Only then can the certificate be issued.

Anchoring in policy

To maintain knowledge and skills, security training is followed up by exercises. Thus, on the one hand, the material is repeated, and on the other hand, the participants discover whether they can cooperate in a crisis situation. The exercises are announced, semi-announced or take place totally unexpectedly, possibly even in cooperation with external emergency services such as ambulances, fire and police. Analyzing training, exercises, risks, incidents and emergencies creates a continuous process. By embedding the total process in the safety policy and by training and practicing in an increasingly focused manner, safety and safety awareness in the organization grows.

Safety Awareness

BHV.NL's safety ambition plan, modular training and exercises provide companies with insight and a well thought-out safety policy. Companies decide for themselves how far their safety ambition extends. Do they apply the safety policy only within the BHV team? Or do they go for safety awareness within the entire organization? BHV.NL helps organizations to realize their safety ambition.
