New pilot plant with high-performance THT turbine mixer at its core

Even market leaders must always keep investing in innovative developments. They understand this very well at TEKA Maschinenbau GmbH. The company from Edenkoben-Pfalz, Germany, develops and produces high-quality mixers, solutions for modernizing and renovating production environments as well as complete dosing and mixing systems for the concrete and precast concrete industry. Recently, the specialist demonstrated a new pilot plant with at its heart a high-quality THT turbine mixer type E-1-III with a volume of up to 600 liters or 960 kg.

TEKA's innovative THT mixers with a patented mixing turbine are today successfully used in the production facilities of many renowned manufacturers of concrete products. They prove their usefulness in the production of all concrete products, even in complex applications, for example in concrete that is self-compacting or has a very high solidity, as well as in refractory masses and products for dry construction. The results are excellent at any quantity.

THT turbine mixer as core

During the last edition of the Bauma trade fair, the specialist presented a new pilot plant. A high-performance turbine mixer THT type E-1-III, with a frequency-controlled 30 kW motor and a maximum volume of 600 liters or 960 kg per mixing operation, is at its heart. Thanks to LED lighting inside the mixer, users can easily observe the homogenization process during mixing. Humidity is continuously measured and maintained using a modern water dosing computer with a special measuring probe at the bottom of the mixer. In addition to the mixing plant with two separate stages, this test rig includes a complete weighing plant, equipped with (walking) platforms and railings. This TEKA turbine mixer comes standard with a frequency converter for the main drive. This allows the user to adjust the rotational speed of the turbine and match it optimally to the mass to be mixed. The speed of the mixing turbine and the mixing tools can also be optimally adjusted during each phase of the mixing cycle.

Broad scope

Therefore, these turbine mixers are ideal for manufacturers of a variety of products that need frequent product or color changes, for the production of very fine-grained concrete or for producers where smaller quantities are often worked with. For special products, even quantities of less than 10% of the maximum volume can be mixed.

Unlike other products, where the maximum concrete mass always determines the mixer's construction, THT turbine mixers take into account the products the customer wants to produce and the needs of each specific customer. Indeed, each mixer can be optimally matched to the products to be mixed. The innovative, patented mixing turbine can be emptied quickly, without leaving any material residue. Moreover, both the duration of the mixing process and the emptying time of the mixing turbine in a mixing cycle can be reduced. Thus, emptying up to 50% can be faster than other mixing plants. The mixing turbine and the "swing and throw" principle guarantee a very intensive and fast mixing of all concrete types, even the most complex special types. During mixing, the pellets are not broken up, so the sieve curve always remains the same.

Cost savings and energy efficiency

TEKA also paid great attention to cost savings in operation and maintenance of the systems. The special shape of the turbine and the use of only a limited number of tools ensure that wear is much lower than in other mixing systems. In addition, turbine and blades can be equipped with a hard metal coating to increase service life. The costs and time for maintenance are greatly reduced and the time interval between servicing is extended due to the limited number of mixing tools and the integrated scraper. Several customers have found that, among other things, the integration of the scraper makes the installation less likely to become dirty. Especially in applications where product or color changes are frequent, this provides an advantage that should not be underestimated. Finally, the turbine can be easily adjusted in height and thus optimally matched to the dry floor, allowing the installation to be emptied quickly and cleanly. Of course, energy efficiency was also considered, for example by adapting the drive to the mass to be mixed and the specific task. Various motor and transmission variants can be selected.

Take the test yourself

Meanwhile, the industry is investing heavily in modernizing production facilities to continue to meet increasingly stringent customer requirements, often calling on TEKA Maschinenbau GmbH's expertise and the quality of THT turbine mixers. In addition, customers can perform mixing tests at TEKA's lab in Edenkoben-Pfalz by appointment or install this test rig at their own production facility to perform the necessary tests.
