Both family businesses also rely on leading quality labels such as Qualisteelcoat. An interview with Director Tineke Kempeneers and Head of Quality Patrick Luijs.
At home in all markets, that's how the two family businesses can be described. And have been for three generations. "The combination of quality, delivery reliability, high throughput and sophisticated logistics makes us a regular applicator for many companies in the Netherlands and Belgium," begins Kempeneers. "We work both on a directional and project basis and are centrally located at the cloverleaf in Lummen. Delivery reliability and quality are our top priorities. Both for powder coating and wet coating, we are Qualisteelcoat certified, and this for the highest corrosion class C5. Specifically for wet painting, we also have the BCCA 2015 qualification, a requirement for government contracts."
Since March 2015, Metalix and Galvacoat Steelcoat have been Qualisteelcoat certified. A conscious choice. "It is an internationally accepted quality label that ensures there are no discussions about the quality of the preservation," Luijs explains. "Qualisteelcoat is also a great stepping stone to further develop our internal quality assurance system. We also seized the opportunity to use Qualisteelcoat to obtain relatively easily the EN 1090 declaration of conformity for load-bearing steel structures as a basis for CE marking. We achieved that attestation in 2020." Kempeneers adds: "Qualisteelcoat is a trigger for us to continuously improve and fine-tune our processes. Our employees are trained annually and we are also audited annually as a company. In addition, we are also ISO 14001 certified. This relates not so much to quality, but much more to environmental impact. Our sector is characterized by high energy consumption. In recent years we have invested heavily in green energy and internal processes have been set up to deal with society in an environmentally conscious way. We are audited annually on this too."
High quality and environmental responsibility are thus important pillars at Metalix and Galvacoat Steelcoat. "During the Christmas holidays, we completely renovated our blast cabinet, which means we are ready for a 'bright' future."
