Smedts Business Halls kicks off training program and cake

Smedts Bedrijfshallen is a young and growing company, mainly active in hall and office construction. The scope of their work is therefore mostly steel structures, concrete (panels) and roof/wall cladding with associated detailing and connections. These are turn-key projects, and they work out projects in both 2D and 3D.

Wiljan Geurts, project manager at Smedts Bedrijfshallen: 'We are currently working with a variety of programs to set up and work out the designs of the various components. This is not ideal because we both outsource (have others design and make them), order (materials such as facade cladding et cetera) and build ourselves. The coordination between the different parts is laborious and - especially if we are changes - it results in considerable failure costs.'

By using bocad, including the specific module Roof & Wall (R&W), Smedts Bedrijfshallen can organize the process differently. From a controlling role (reactive) they grow to a coordinating role. This not only reduces failure costs, it also costs them less time and energy to keep everything on track.

We therefore expect that bocad R&W will guide them flawlessly through the conversion process from 2D to 3D, with a significant reduction in lead times.'

Training Program

Niels Oudenaarden, commercial director at Liemar: 'The issue at Smedts Bedrijvenshallen is one-to-one in line with what makes us happy at Liemar: helping companies to set up their processes better and smarter, in order to reduce (failure) costs and to make more profit. To optimally support this transformation and change process, an extensive training program has been set up. The trainings will be given both internally and at the Liemar office. By doing this in intervals, we do not only teach people the 'trick' within the package, but we also use the experiences they gain during the actual use of the system to make the new system their own.
