Surface Technology Day 2019; have you registered yet?

A look at the future of surface technology. That, in short, could be the description of the Day of Surface Technology, which will be organized by Vereniging Industrieel Surfacebehandeld Nederland (Vereniging ION) on November 13, 2019, at TU Delft.

The demand for advanced surface techniques, like the responsibility for the applicator, is increasing and the expectations on the coating are increasing. Therefore, developments in surface technology are going very fast and it is necessary for knowledge institutions, applicators and suppliers to develop new techniques. But also the user will need to be updated on the possibilities. For all these stakeholders, the Surface Technology Day is an excellent opportunity to gather a lot of knowledge in a limited time, and perhaps lay the foundation for groundbreaking applications.

During the afternoon, several presentations are programmed with topics such as;

  • Measuring Chromium(VI) in paint.
  • Advanced experimental and modeling approaches to better understand and predict corrosion of metals
  • Corrosion under insulation, a silent killer in industry
  • Chrome plating of steel strip from a Chromium(III) bath in a continuous line
  • Passivation of aluminum (replace Chromium(VI))
  • Optimizing bath extraction galvano industry
  • Recycled aluminum as potential problem for surface treatment industry
  • Safe practices with CMR substances (including Chromium(VI)) and the 'Preventing exposure' project
  • Transport coatings on steel and their removal
  • Thermal spraying in the aircraft MRO industry
  • Chromium(VI)-free coating technology for the aircraft industry
  • Blasting agents and recent developments
  • Color and color variations in powder coatings
  • What does NACE mean in the surface treatment industry?
  • Solvent replacement in coatings
  • Functional properties of lubricant-impregnated anodized aluminum

This year's Surface Technology Day will be combined with a tour of TU Delft's laboratories, the General Meeting of Members of Association ION and the mandatory update workshops of Association Qual.ION for the quality labels Qualicoat, Qualisteelcoat and Qualanod.

Throughout the program there will be plenty of room for networking, possibly visiting TU Delft's The Green Village and strengthening the inner man.
