Staalbouw Nagelhout Bakhuizen continues as of today under the name Staalbouw Bakhuizen. The reason is the takeover by Zwanenburg from Heerenveen. With this step, the company will remain located in Bakhuizen and the focus will be on continuity, maintaining employment and especially innovation of a specialized manufacturing company in the north of the Netherlands.
Director Henderikus Oostra, associated with the company for forty years, looks ahead with confidence.
“What stands here was built with craftsmanship and hard work,” Oostra says. “That foundation will remain. At the same time, we are taking steps to make the company future-proof. A deal is a deal remains our basis.” For personnel, clients and suppliers, this step mainly means security and confidence: the same team, the same quality and the same agreements. Ongoing projects will continue unabated, while at the same time investments will be made in further development and strengthening of the organization, so that everyone benefits from a company that will only grow stronger in the coming years.
Staalbouw Bakhuizen specializes in steel structures for non-residential construction. In recent years, Bakhuizen has realized constructions for leading projects, including the Forum Groningen, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam and the renovation of the World Trade Center Amsterdam. The company is also actively involved in the new construction of the KJ Square in The Hague.
According to Erik Zwanenburg, owner of Zwanenburg, Staalbouw Bakhuizen fits well with his organization's long-term vision. “Staalbouw Bakhuizen has a strong reputation and a close-knit team. That craftsmanship and commitment suit us. It's important that these types of specialized companies remain anchored in the region and are actually given the space to grow stronger for decades to come.”
Zwanenburg explicitly sees this acquisition as part of a broader ambition to invest more often in regional manufacturing companies in the North of the Netherlands. The aim is to retain and expand knowledge, production and jobs in the region, in line with the development needed to keep the economy in the north future-proof. Success does not come naturally, we make it together, with the people on the shop floor and with partners in the chain. “Together we take the step from strong to even stronger.”
During a staff meeting, the new name was unveiled. Power athlete Jitse Kramer gave a short demonstration at the occasion as a symbolic underlining of the theme of being strong together.
