Concrete House chairman Rob van Gijzel leaves

Rob van Gijzel is stepping down as president of Betonhuis effective November 1. "I have very much enjoyed this role. It was a great period to work together with highly motivated and dedicated people from the concrete industry to build a future-oriented concrete industry. The foundation has been laid. This is a good time to hand over the baton," said Rob van Gijzel.

Concrete House

On December 1, 2017, Betonhuis was established as the new umbrella association of the cement and concrete industry in the Netherlands. This step was taken to strengthen the external position of the concrete industry with greater vigor. This was done in part by developing a powerful network and by cooperating with third parties through the Betonakkoord, Bouwend Nederland, VNO/NCW and NVTB. A process of image reinforcement and making the production process more sustainable in a broad sense was also undertaken. In addition, synergy has resulted in better quality training and learning materials, coherent terms of employment and better and relevant information.

Fundament

It can be concluded that over the past three years, with Betonhuis, enormous strides have been made in the social position and market positioning of the Dutch cement and concrete industry. This completes the first phase in which the above goals had to take real shape.

The next phase is to further strengthen and accelerate the internal connection within the concrete industry. By professionally developing the organization, management and staff, the executive work can be taken up with greater vigor. This will allow the board to implement its policy, strategic and supervisory role more remotely.

This phase will also be characterized by the will to achieve one powerful organization. All this while maintaining and strengthening the external position.

A suitable successor will be sought in the coming period. Betonhuis would like to thank Rob van Gijzel warmly for the way he has fulfilled his chairmanship role and wishes him all the best for the future.
