Good advice gives you value-added ISO 45001 certification

The route to ISO 45001, the new international standard for Occupational Health and Safety, can be taken in different ways. It is no different for concrete and steel construction in the Netherlands. To achieve successful implementation and certification, it is important to choose a knowledgeable partner that provides proactive and targeted support. With an approach that perfectly matches your business activities, environment and organizational culture and sharply focuses on, among other things, the occupational health and safety risks present.

The specialists of the nationally operating Van Voorst Consult have been assisting companies in taking successful follow-up steps since 1994. In the field of ISO and VCA certification, but also the CO2 performance ladder or support in process optimization and business strengthening. It is not for nothing that the consulting firm uses the slogan 'unburdened in certification, strengthened in operations'. Whatever the approach to calling on the extensive knowledge and expertise of Van Voorst Consult's consultants, clients are always assured of a transparent, effective and practical approach. "On top of that, with extensive experience in the construction, production and process environments, we know quite well how to offer our clients real added value," says Aart Otten, who, together with founder Gijsbert van Voorst, forms the management of the consultancy. "Especially in environments where the sleeves have to be rolled up, we feel like a fish out of water and work together with the client in a goal-oriented way and with a visible result towards certification or organizational strengthening."

More than a piece of paper

Van Voorst Consult adopts this approach, among others, for ISO 45001. Since the publication of the new standard in March 2018, the consultancy has already successfully guided several companies to the coveted certificate. Through the creation of a practical organizational manual, implementation in the organization and preparation for the external audit, the company works towards certification. Van Voorst Consult uses the in-house developed and very well proven tool Easytool for this purpose. "With our Easytool system, the client not only obtains its ISO 45001 certification, it also ensures that our clients are provided with a method or methodology that can support clear management and control of the relevant occupational health and safety risks," Otten continues. "That means that in every situation we look for the ultimate customization. To achieve that, we look closely at the company's context. What is the market like and how should the organization respond? But also: what are the specific risks and what do the stakeholders demand? In short, we make every effort to fit the organization optimally and set up the new standard in such a way that it fits the culture and is easy to work with. In all this, we make the entrepreneur think and point out the actual usefulness of the certification for his organization. After all, it goes beyond the piece of paper on the wall. At the same time, we look at the possibilities of combining any other existing certificates into a single system, so that attention to occupational health and safety in combination with a quality or environmental certificate, for example, can be secured as practically as possible. A nice extra that saves the customer a lot of time and costs."
