Jury announced for Concrete Design Competition

Tektonics University is organizing the Concrete Design Competition in the Netherlands in the 2019-2020 academic year. Students in the Architecture and Civil Engineering programs can participate in this during this academic year. However, entries are already possible from now on.

The Concrete Design Competition is organized simultaneously in several countries, the upcoming edition also in Belgium, Ireland and Germany. The national winners will participate in a week-long international master class in Dublin. In this hands-on master class, international teams will work on a design in concrete and actually implement it (to scale). In addition, a cash prize will be awarded to the three best designs.

For the Dutch edition, a national jury, consisting of different disciplines, will judge all the designs and from this, announce the three winners in June 2020. The jury includes:

  • Juliette Bekkering - TU Eindhoven professor / Bekkering Adams Architects - chairman of the jury;
    (focus experience spaces and forms and what it does (emotionally) to people and the environment);
  • Diederik Veenendaal - Summum Engineering
    (focus sustainability, innovative (material efficient) construction);
  • Marieke Kums - STUDIO MAKS
    (focus interesting architectural forms in connection of opposites);
  • Niels van der Hulst - Geelen Beton
    (focus technical feasibility and novelty of the idea);
  • Max Rink - Rink Tilanus Architects
    (focus architectural design and challenging design).
