LG Concrete receives CSC certificate for sustainability

LG Concrete today received the silver CSC certificate for its commitment to sustainability. The official presentation of the certificate took place at LG-Beton's site in Oudsbergen, handed over by Thijs van der Wiel of SGS Belgium.

CSC, or the Concrete Sustainability Council, is a globally recognized certification system that assesses companies for their environmental, economic and social responsibility. This system makes sustainability measurable in an objective way and helps companies clarify their commitment to responsible business practices.

Alain Greck, business manager of LG Concrete, commented proudly on the certificate obtained:
"Achieving the silver CSC certificate is an important step for LG Concrete in our ongoing quest for sustainability. This certificate not only confirms our efforts to produce concrete products in a responsible manner, but also provides concrete benefits for our customers, such as additional credits for BREEAM certification."

The CSC certificate is valid for three years and is awarded on a site-by-site basis, with specific audits and scores assigned for each site. LG Concrete is only the 4th Belgian "Precast Concrete" company to obtain a bronze or silver certificate for one or more of its production sites. A gold or platinum certificate has not yet been awarded in Belgium. Key benefits of this certificate for LG Concrete include:

• Clients like Altez can receive more credits for BREEAM certification, increasing their chances in tenders.
• It provides a good stepping stone to future ISO 14001 certification.
• It demonstrates that LG Concrete meets the latest standards for sustainable concrete.
• It strengthens LG Concrete and Altez's position in the marketplace against competitors by demonstrating that we produce concrete responsibly.
• It gives us valuable insight into possible improvements for more sustainable and responsible production.

This accreditation assesses various aspects such as legal compliance, working conditions, occupational health and safety, environmental management, and concrete quality. Meeting certain criteria is mandatory for the silver level that LG Concrete has now achieved.
