Precast concrete from Apeldoorn: Diverse and sustainable

At Preco, a total supplier in the field of precast concrete, the positive developments follow each other in rapid succession. Was in April last year on the Ecofactorij in Apeldoorn yet a brand new and ultra-modern concrete plant moved, recently the company managed to obtain the coveted CSC certificate. A feat that again underlines the sustainability ambitions of Preco.

The foundation of Preco BV was laid as early as 2004. That is when the company started producing precast concrete elements under the name Cervix Beton in Kootwijkerbroek. In the beginning, this specialism was used mainly to serve the agricultural sector. With the expansion of the delivery program and the increasing demand for Cervix's products, the move to larger premises became a necessity in 2012. The new accommodation was found in Ede, where the growth and development of the concrete producer continued cheerfully. "Since September 2018, this has been done under the banner of Preco, a new name that expresses our core disciplines succinctly and powerfully," says co-owner and commercial director Theo Kool. "And the production location has also already changed. For a year and a half we have been operating from an ultra-modern concrete plant on the Ecofactorij in Apeldoorn. A location that is equipped with the very latest production equipment and where an experienced team of about one hundred specialists answers the questions from the market on a daily basis."

These questions are just as varied as Preco's range of services and products. Opting for the expertise of the total supplier is opting for a complete solution, from A to Z. Whereas the service package includes 3D engineering, production, delivery and assembly, Preco's product range includes a variety of precast products such as walls, columns and beams, stairs and platform plates, balcony and gallery plates, hollow-core slabs and T-docks. Even for specials such as park benches, works of art and concrete signage knock successfully on the IJsseldijk 31 in Apeldoorn. "Our package of precast products is very diverse and is manufactured with a sharp focus on sustainability," Kool continues. "For example, we minimize CO2 emissions, in part by adding a minimal amount of cement to our concrete mixtures. In addition, within our plant, we are investing in smart production processes, a substantial reduction in energy consumption and continuous innovation of internal processes. At the same time, we give our people every opportunity to further develop their talents. Spearheads that have resulted in the ISO 14001 certificate and the recently obtained CSC seal of approval, another wonderful reward for our distinctive and future-oriented way of working."

Application in practice

During the realization of Crocs Europe B.V.'s 50,000 m² distribution center at DistriPark Dordrecht, Nieuwkuijk-based Hercuton is once again using the precast products and services of the precast concrete specialist. "Preco is supplying 323 columns, 5,000 m² of floor, 130 beams and 5,000 m² of flint walls," said Arno Wouters, project manager on behalf of the total provider in turnkey business accommodation. "High-quality components that are also perfectly matched to the other structural components in the Apeldoorn factory. In addition, the structural engineers, draughtsmen and project leader from Preco provide a welcome added value to this project. The result? A flawless supply of materials and fast, efficient processing on the construction site."
