Rijkswaterstaat signs DigiDealGO: ambitions for digitization in construction laid down

Together. Smarter. Faster. These are the key terms of the 'DigiDeal for the Built Environment' (DigiDealGO). During the working conference 'Two years of the Building Agenda', April 11, 2019 in The Hague, the deal was endorsed by Rijkswaterstaat and more than 30 other construction organizations. This commits parties to the joint ambitions, goals and approach for further digitization of the construction sector.

In the DigiDealGO, sector-wide agreements are made on the exchange, ownership and organization of data and information in the construction industry. The essence of the approach is to make use of already existing and future digitization initiatives in the sector. The DigiDealGO is aimed at creating overview and cohesion in the form of so-called acceleration projects.

Smooth exchange
'Many parties in the construction chain have been investing in digitization for years. What they increasingly encounter is the impossibility of exchanging data in the chain. The DigiDealGO is going to make that possible. With agreements on standards, clients, contractors and government can develop initiatives to enable the smooth exchange of existing data. With this we give an impulse to smart and innovative solutions in our sector,' says Maxime Verhagen, chairman of the sector organization Bouwend Nederland.

Agreements Needed for Rejuvenating, Renewing and Sustaining
For Rijkswaterstaat these agreements on digitization and computerization are necessary to give substance to the task of Rejuvenation, Renewal and Sustainability. Maaike Beerepoot (AIRBIM program manager) is involved in the realization of DigiDealGo: 'Further digitization and computerization are necessary for Rijkswaterstaat to build faster, better and cheaper and also to make circular construction possible. Without a good exchange of data and information during the total lifetime of the infrastructure, the renovation and maintenance of our acreage becomes a very difficult task.'
