Standard for execution of concrete structures published

The new standard provides additional requirements to NEN-EN 13670:2009 "The manufacture of concrete structures that are tailored to Dutch practice. New developments in the execution of concrete works have been given a place in the standard.

The standard is relevant to parties involved in the execution of concrete structures: contractors, structural engineers, suppliers and supervisors. Also for principals, it offers NEN 8670 additional requirements for quality of execution that are consistent with contemporary practice.

NEN 8670

Together with NEN-EN 13670, all aspects for the manufacture of concrete structures are covered in NEN 8670. This applies to both prefabricated concrete elements and in-situ concrete. In addition, the determination method for horizontal concrete pressure on formwork from DIN 18218 has been adopted.

With the publication of NEN 8670, there is a successor to NEN 6722, which was repealed in 2013. NEN 6722 included matters that were not regulated in NEN-EN 13670:2009. This has now been remedied thanks to the space that the European standard leaves for aspects to be fleshed out at the national level.
