Liemar 40 years: the thirty-first to the fortieth year

How vision, growth and collaboration come together

At the end of 2025, we celebrated Liemar's 40th anniversary. A milestone of which we are naturally proud and which we do not let pass by quietly. In this series of articles we look back on the growth and development of our company. From the first steps, through specialization in steel construction, to structure and maturity in software and collaboration. In this last article, all lines come together. This is the decade in which Liemar grew visibly in people, customers and vision.

During this period, room arose for significant expansion of the team. So starting in 2016, the team was gradually strengthened with new colleagues, each with their own expertise and background. With the arrival of Tom Smout in 2016, not only the consultancy capacity was expanded, but also the specific knowledge of bocad was further deepened. In the following years, Hein van Beers (2018) and Femke van Wel (2019) joined as consultants, further strengthening the guidance of clients in practice. With Jowie van Heugten, who started as a consultant in the spring of 2025, the team gained another link in the connection with clients.

The team also grew on the development side. Mario Late joined in 2019 as a software engineer and made a significant contribution to the continued development of the system. Bas Holl followed in 2024 as software developer, once again investing in Liemar's technical future.

On the commercial front, the arrival of Niels Oudenaarden in 2021 brought new focus and direction. As commercial director, he plays an important role in further expanding Liemar's position in the steel construction industry.

With this growth, it became possible to support clients more broadly. Not only technical, but also substantive and strategic. Now Liemar has a team that has grown gradually over the past 40 years and is ready for - at least - the next decade. At the same time, the ambition remains to grow further. Future-proof business

During these years, the vision was also further sharpened. This was not a fundamental change, but mainly a concrete expression of the view we have always had of steel construction. We see that the sector is under increasing financial and time pressure. Projects are becoming more complex, margins are under pressure and lead times are getting shorter. In such an environment, information becomes increasingly important, especially for proactive management.

Therein lies the core of what Liemar stands for today: helping companies in steel and metal construction to always have crucial business information available and then supporting them in interpreting it. In this way, better decisions can be made and business operations can be purposefully improved.

We are therefore much more than a software supplier. We actively think about the future: what is coming up for steel builders, how do you stay agile and where are the opportunities to work smarter?

We contribute by sharing knowledge, exchanging experiences between customers and putting the right people in touch with each other, among other things. Because although every company is unique, many issues play out everywhere. By connecting, we can help each other further.

LiemarXI and bocad

Liemar also continues to evolve technologically. Work is now underway on the step-by-step rollout of Liemar XI: a next generation of the system, building on everything learned in the past decades. Focused on ease of use, insight and future-proofing. In addition, Liemar remains active as a Value Added Reseller of bocad. 3D construction software which, under the banner of Schuller & Company, is making great strides.

In conclusion

This series marks a milestone, but not an end point. In the coming years, Liemar will continue to build to support the industry with our services. Think strategic business management, strategic management and change management, operational in setting up and realizing steel construction projects, financial, software and training. And in all of this, we are working primarily to bring peace of mind and profitability to steel builders who want to move forward.
