Formwork and scaffolding specialist PERI has a clear growth strategy in mind for 2025. And in it, the scaffolding range plays the leading role. "In the coming years we will profile our scaffolding as a full-fledged leg alongside our formwork and engineering. We are convinced that most of our future growth will come from that segment," says Peter Dillen, managing director at PERI Benelux.
As in past years, PERI Benelux will again be able to record solid growth in 2019. "What we are very pleased about is that stronghold PERI Belgium is consolidating, but that PERI Netherlands is also registering a double-digit growth rate," says Peter Dillen. To ensure this positive trend also in the coming years, PERI Benelux is focusing on its scaffolding. This focus is part of the global strategy PERI 2025, which is driven from the headquarters in Germany. Peter Dillen: "PERI has a clear growth strategy. Worldwide, we are currently turning over almost 1.6 billion in sales. By 2025 we aim to almost double sales, a substantial increase."
To achieve this goal, PERI is strongly committed to a number of initiatives. For example, the lightweight formwork system PERI DUO is targeting the mid-market segment and an advanced digitization project is underway in various areas, from digital marking to 3D planning and BIM integration to take projects to an even higher level. But the big focus in the coming years will be on scaffolding. Peter Dillen: "That segment has, certainly for us, the greatest growth potential. We have been involved in scaffolding for twenty years, but always in the shadow of our formwork. We are now changing that. We are profiling our scaffolding as a full-fledged leg alongside our formwork and engineering."
PERI is currently making an above-average effort to bring experienced scaffolders on board.
Through an approach based on much better planning of the customer's various needs, PERI aims to provide a service that envisions less scaffolding material, more efficient operation and, consequently, cost savings. "We take an active approach to all segments in which we deal with scaffolding," Peter Dillen clarifies. "First and foremost is the support of our formwork. The perfectly fitting combination of our formwork and our scaffolding is a great asset for customers. For example, we are talking about stair towers and reinforcement scaffolding. In this segment we are already present with an existing sales team as a brand. The main goal is to offer our existing customers a scaffolding solution in addition to formwork and thus to act as a one-stop shop."
Second is the construction segment where PERI Benelux wants to market its scaffolding. Peter Dillen: "Those projects are not formwork-related. Just think about renovations of bridges or buildings. For this, the PERI UP Flex scaffolds and the PERI UP Easy facade scaffolds respectively are ideally suited. In this respect, the renovation of the Willemsbrug in Rotterdam is a great reference project for us. And here, too, compatibility is a great advantage. Our scaffolds are not only compatible with our formwork, but also the PERI UP Flex scaffolds for structures and the PERI UP Easy facade scaffolds are mutually compatible."
To ensure strong growth in the coming years as well, PERI Benelux is fully targeting its scaffolding.
Finally, PERI is also targeting the industrial sector with its scaffolding. Peter Dillen: "This is a fairly new segment for us, with other players and other needs. A few years ago, we recruited people with the necessary experience in that sector and with ExxonMobil Antwerp, Shell in Moerdijk and BASF in Ludwigshafen, we already have some great projects on the books. With those projects we were able to demonstrate that with PERI systems you can plan better and work more efficiently. Actually, we are changing the rules of the game with our systems and this is being quietly absorbed by the key players in the industry."
Both in the field of formwork support, construction and industry, PERI is today building a strong sales team with expertise. "We recruit people who know the systems on the market and have the technical reasoning to convince customers of the advantages of PERI scaffolding. In terms of formwork, we are very strong in the market and have achieved a certain market share. This gives us time and space to further expand the scaffolding market. Scaffolding sales should become as important as those of our formwork. This obviously won't happen overnight, but the focus is very clear. PERI is currently making an above-average effort to bring on board experienced scaffolders with the necessary horsepower to make our mark," concludes Peter Dillen.
