DNV awards first ISO/IEC 42001 certificate in the Netherlands to Metyis

As DNV's first customer in the Netherlands, Metyis, an organization providing solutions in AI & data, Digital Commerce, marketing, design and consulting services, has received certification for the management system standard ISO/IEC 42001:2023 - Artificial Intelligence (AI). 

AI is on the agenda at more and more organizations, including Metyis. The Amsterdam-based multinational, headquartered in Switzerland, is the first in the Netherlands to be certified against ISO/IEC 42001. This certification makes an important contribution to the organization's quality assurance and provides a framework for organizing the use of AI in a secure and controlled manner. 

"DNV has awarded the first ISO/IEC 42001 certification in the Netherlands to Metyis. With this certification, Metyis takes a pioneering role in the responsible and structured application of AI. Organizations deploying AI would do well to manage it in a structured and future-proof manner."

Certification against ISO/IEC 42001 offers organizations the opportunity to increase confidence in the field of AI. Indeed, organizations certified against this standard can independently demonstrate that they use safe, ethical and reliable AI applications. In the Netherlands, DNV is one of the organizations accredited by the Accreditation Council to conduct audits against ISO/IEC 42001, the international standard for AI management systems. 

ISO/IEC 42001 is the first international standard for AI management systems (AIMS) applicable to all types of organizations and in all sectors. AI and machine learning have the potential to contribute greatly to society and the economy. While the technology is intended to provide benefits, misuse of the technology or lack of control is a major risk that requires careful management. With the certification for ISO/IEC 42001, Metyis demonstrates that they handle AI responsibly and ethically and are well prepared for a future where AI is widely used.
