We would like to invite you to our knowledge session A new standard: the design of joint crossings in practice at Thursday, Oct. 30.
In this knowledge session, we will explain RTD 1007-5: a new guideline from the Department of Public Works that promotes uniformity and quality in the design of joint crossings. This guideline provides a standardized framework for preparing execution designs for joint crossings on bridges and viaducts, emphasizing explicit verification and validation. The document streamlines the design process by providing clear requirements for design reports, construction and production drawings.
Important components are the object-specific design report and the integral execution design drawing. These contain essential details such as interfaces with other structural components, risk analyses and verifications. It reduces failure costs by minimizing design errors and provides a basis for consistent project execution. In addition, RTD 1007-5 aligns with other documents in the series, including RTD 1007-1 (selection process) and RTD 1007-2 (technical requirements).
