BAM Infra Netherlands sells share of 3D concrete printing plant

BAM is convinced that 3D concrete printing will continue to play an important role in the further optimization and digitization of construction processes and projects. Therefore, BAM will remain involved as a designer and builder in order to apply 3D concrete printing techniques where it adds value for its clients. For this reason, BAM is continuing its collaboration with current partners Weber Beamix and TU Eindhoven. BAM is handing over its active role in factory 3D concrete printing to the supply chain.

Future 3D concrete printing

With the acquisition of BAM's share in the 3D concrete printing plant, Weber Beamix is intensifying its development and production activities and increasing Weber Beamix's ability to independently serve the entire market. BAM Infra Nederland continues to apply the possibilities of 3D concrete printing to projects. To this end, BAM is continuing its collaboration with Weber Beamix and TU Eindhoven in the field of materials technology and digital and parametric design.

Further digitization

BAM is committed to digitizing construction. With 3D concrete printing, unique knowledge has been gained about parametric design, among other things. And BAM was already a leader in Building Information Modelling (BIM) with certification at the highest level. In the construction phase, BAM is optimizing its processes by, for example, applying 4D planning, digital inspection and 5D quantity monitoring as standard. BAM is also accelerating digitization in the maintenance phase by connecting data with technology and domain knowledge. Prediction models based on artificial intelligence provide better insight into efficient maintenance of key assets in infrastructure. And digitalization also plays an important role in increasing the safety of users of our infrastructure. With intelligent traffic management systems and digital ways for speed regulation.

Firsts 3D concrete printing

In 2017, BAM and several partners and clients had a world first with the world's first 3D printed, concrete bridge. BAM and partner Weber Beamix picked up on this innovative construction technology by opening the first commercial 3D concrete printing plant in 2019. With new applications such as printed formwork as a result. And above all, a lot of knowledge about the digital design process of this technology. With its early entry, collaboration and first projects, BAM has helped to ensure that 3D concrete printing technology has been accepted as a construction method in the Netherlands and abroad.
