On Friday, June 21, Kiwa has awarded four gold CSC certificates to the concrete mortar plants of Rouwmaat. All branches of Rouwmaat Betoncentrales are therefore leaders in the sustainable production of concrete in the Achterhoek and Twente.
"The concrete sector is becoming more and more sustainable.CSC is tangible evidence that the concrete sector is becoming more sustainable and is on its way to meeting climate goals," said Remco Kerkhoven of Betonhuis, knowledge center and the expert on sustainable construction with concrete.Jan Smit, director Rouwmaat betoncentrales, adds, "We have been focusing for years on developing and making our concrete mortar more sustainable. The challenge remains to find the right balance between creating sustainable concrete mortar in conjunction with respect for the well-being of people and the environment. The gold CSC certificate is a tangible proof of recognition for our craftsmanship, of which we are very proud."
Demonstrable sustainable production
The CSC certificate makes sustainability demonstrable and is proof of this for buyers of concrete. For both nationally operating companies and regional players, it is important to implement measures to produce more sustainably. As an example, the CSC certificate is rated with an origin classification level (tier level) of 1 in BREEAM.
International arrangement
The Concrete Sustainability Council has defined the requirements and conditions for CSC certification in the Sustainable Concrete Manual. The certificate has international status. There are four levels: bronze, silver, gold and platinum. The actual certification is carried out exclusively by CSC member and independent certifying bodies. Pleun Kleinveld, certification expert at Kiwa: "Rouwmaat is certified with a gold CSC certificate. The entire organization has worked towards this together. Precisely by taking measures Rouwmaat contributes to a better climate."
