Slim floor system for car showroom on the A9

BMW and Mini dealer Van Poelgeest is building a new showroom along the A9 motorway in Amstelveen. To this end, the existing showroom is being renovated and topped with an extra floor. For this, JG Staalplaatbetonvloeren BV is supplying and installing 2,000 m² of the slender ComFlor 75 floor system and 3,000 m² of steel roof plate SAB 106 and 158 profile.

The Comflor 75 floor was installed on top of the existing steel roof.

Starting next year, the widening of the A9 between the Badhoevedorp and Holendrecht interchanges will begin. This is an enormous infrastructural operation that will take at least six years in phases. Near Amstelveen, the A9 will be completely sunken and there will be three wide canopies. BMW and Mini dealer Van Poelgeest is definitely ahead of the fanfare with the complete renovation and expansion of its Amstelveen branch. Located on the far west side of the city and right next to the A9, behind the sound barrier, the premises of the well-known car dealer will grow to a gross floor area of 11,000 m² as a result of the renovation.

The amount of concrete required with ComFlor floors is limited and results in a light and slender floor.

ComFlor 75

JG Staalplaatbetonvloeren of Tolkamer is a supplier of various floor systems and can offer a solution for virtually any application. Director Wim Snelders: "We supply the steel plates for all Hody/Kingspan Multideck floors, the Hoesch floors and all ComFlor floor types. In the case of Van Poelgeest, structural engineer Peters & van Leeuwen decided on the ComFlor 75 for the new storey floor. This slender steel-concrete floor of 2,000 m² was laid on top of the existing steel roof. With a little help here and there, we were able to make the new floor with a 3.60-meter outrigger-free span. That's quite a lot for a floor only 120 millimeters thick."

Favorable

The ComFlor floors are profiled in such a way that the amount of concrete required can be limited, so you get a light and slender floor. Snelders: "That is obviously beneficial for the structure, especially in the case of limited storey heights like at Van Poelgeest. With 4 kN/m² and a point load of 10 kN/m², the load capacity is more than sufficient for this automotive application. We now have 20 years of experience with this system. It is a nice product to work with: quick construction is easy, you can easily move the parts and it is easy to conceal electricity. The ComFlor 75 also has a fire resistance of 60 minutes." The floors are offered including a static calculation.

JG Steel Sheet Concrete Flooring also supplied 3,000 m² of metal sheeting for the new roof and for the canopy over the main entrance. The first cars are expected to be able to drive into the showroom in early 2020.
