Liemar for Ukraine: support our stove project

As Liemarians, we have felt strongly about the situation in Ukraine for many years. For more than four years we have supported the Ukrainian people and military with concrete help.

During this period we have organized several transports with medical materials and equipment, clothing, generators and food packages. We do this based on the belief that when we can help, we should help!

From that same conviction, last year our stove project genesis. For this project, we are having steel stoves produced in Kharkov at a friendly metal construction company. In doing so, we are not only helping families who live with the effects of war on a daily basis, but also supporting an entrepreneur who is trying to keep his steel construction business running under the most difficult conditions.

This is how we support people who, like us, build, produce, plan and undertake. People who, due to circumstances beyond their control, have to fight every day to keep their businesses and their future afloat.

Cooking and heating

The stoves are simple but invaluable. Families can use them to cook and heat their homes. Last winter, in collaboration with the Foundation Support Fund Rotary Son, 90 stoves were distributed. This has literally given 90 families warmth, a hot meal and a bit of security in an uncertain time. Although temperatures are currently rising, the need for these stoves remains great. After all, the war continues unabated.

In September, Jan will travel to Kharkov again to deliver collected medical materials and have a new series of stoves produced. And an awful lot of them are needed!

For less than €100 one stove can be made and distributed. For us, that may be a modest amount. For a family in Ukraine, it means warmth during cold days, the ability to prepare food and a small piece of comfort in a daily existence marked by uncertainty.

This is why we appeal to our fellow steelmakers, associates and partners. Not because we think we are doing something special, but because we believe that solidarity within our sector is natural. To work together, support each other and take responsibility when necessary.
