Meco Metal sharpens Work Preparation with one training day

Does the name Meco Metal look familiar to you? No wonder, because this Belgian steel construction company takes a high-profile approach. We previously reported on their lean working method and their effective deployment of LiemarX. Meco Metal has fully embraced Liemar since its implementation, both our ERP software and our vision of business operations. Recently, we were able to welcome four team members to our office for a training day.

Vera Vannuffelen, logistics, process and administration manager at Meco Metal: "Domien Driesen, manager at Meco Metal, suggested that we do this training day externally. The aim was mainly to have a quiet and undisturbed sparring session with each other about this and to hold the initial working method against the light in relation to the current state of affairs. Of course with in mind that so much has happened in terms of development at Meco Metal. So it was a kind of evaluation.

Barry van den Reek, our technical director, provided the training day: 'Meco Metal has been working with Liemar for several years now. Although they are continuously working on optimization, it was good to go over the working methods and the use of the software. This time the theme was Work Preparation. We are from scratch through: how is the module being used, what is going well and what could be smarter? And from that comes a nice list of opportunities for improvement.

Being away from the shop floor for a while, not getting emails and phone calls and talking transparently with each other about expectations and reality; it became an enlightening day. Barry: 'You do get different discussions. With me there as a 'referee', they came to new insights and conclusions. The beauty of such a day is also that you can focus completely on the practical situation of Meco Metal. With concrete, actual data. That way you can fine-tune very specifically.'

More refresher moments

The team at Meco Metal, especially the four participants in the training day, have the same goals in mind. There is commitment to work on those goals and support each other in doing so. Barry: 'Given the success of this training day, I expect it will be good to repeat this on a regular basis. This can be done in the same, but also in different team compositions. If we choose a topic once or twice a year to review together, we can continue to identify areas for improvement. This is how Meco Metal gets more and more return from their projects.'
