Concrete House Concrete Mortar comes out with new Concrete Construction Guide

The Concrete Mortar sector of Betonhuis is coming out with a new Concrete Construction Guide. All the knowledge on preparing, processing and executing poured concrete structures is together in one handy publication supported by digital animations.

Concrete is used to build sustainably and efficiently. The material is robust, has a long lifespan and is also distinguished by constant innovation. This innovation is due to the years of knowledge accumulated by the concrete mortar plants. For longevity and high quality, knowledge and craftsmanship on the construction site is a prerequisite. After eight years, the guide has been completely updated by companies affiliated with Betonhuis.

Guide to implementation and education

The guide is intended primarily for job planners and executives who can use the information from the initial design to the completion of a structure. In addition, the Concrete Construction Guide has been developed specifically for education. "Due to personnel shortages and increasing demand, our industry will continue to need people in the coming years," said Paul Ewalds, sector secretary of Concrete Mortar. He states that 60,000 people are needed throughout the construction industry in the coming years. Through many training programs, construction is filling these jobs. "Almost three-quarters of the total mass in construction is concrete. That is why it is so important to spread current knowledge among educators and get people excited about the material and its proper processing."

Content Concrete Construction Guide

The guide covers the topics of service life and durability of poured structures. But ordering, transporting and processing concrete is also described in several chapters. Based on the guide, design and sustainable material choices can be made. This makes the guide a reference work for more

parties from the concrete construction chain. Ewalds: "The guide is needed. Much practical information about concrete is not available or very fragmented for small and medium-sized contractors in the B&U and GWW sectors. We see an increasing demand for sustainable use of materials among clients, especially in the business market and in larger GWW works. Many construction and civil engineering companies want to use building materials more efficiently and sustainably. Our member companies can mean a lot in this."

The development of the new Concrete Construction Guide 2020 was made possible in part by a contribution from SKKB. The costs of printing and distribution are borne by Betonhuis members. Copies can therefore be requested free of charge from a concrete mortar company affiliated with Betonhuis. In addition to the 100 pages of information, the guide refers to the website concretehouse.co.uk/concreteconstruction-guide. The first digital animation supported by this guide can also be found here.
