Steyaert-Heene: a strong start gives confidence for the future

Steyaert-Heene from Eeklo, Belgium, is celebrating its 120th anniversary this year. Bruno Steyaert, the current CEO, is the fourth generation of the family business. With its steel construction, metal trading, engineering and engineering office departments, Steyaert-Heene provides services for railroad infrastructure, petrochemicals and power plants, among others. Throughout the company's rich history, the necessary developments have been made to arrive at this fine position.

Bruno: "Without an ERP package and its processes, you can't run a business. Then you are basically sailing blind. Then you determine from your cash flow whether your company is doing well or badly. And then it comes: however it's going, you have no idea why it's going that way.'

Three times is a charm

That's why Steyaert-Heene started with an ERP package back in the 1980s. 'Our first package ran on UNIX. We used it a lot and we were very satisfied with it. But UNIX disappeared and we had to look for another system. That's how we ended up with Microsoft Dynamics. That's a big player. After a few years we came to the conclusion: it in a fantastic system, but not for steel construction.'

'We were really missing all the specific knowledge about steel construction in that package. Think of different qualities, optimization of profiles, registration of residual parts and so on. Via via via we came into contact with Jan van Hapert and what turns out? If you start talking to Liemar about these issues, they understand immediately. This is their core business. Their habitat.

Small beginnings, big plans

Steyaert-Heene's previous attendance recording system recently broke down. An excellent opportunity for a first collaboration. 'Liemar's system works extremely well. The installation was completed within two hours and the system is also compatible with the badges we were already using. Ideal, of course. So that was a very nice experience. I hope the rest will continue to go the same way.'
