As makers of Concrete & Steel Construction, input from the "work field" is very valuable to us in order to respond to current themes and trends in the exciting world of concrete and steel. For this reason, starting this year, we started a so-called work field committee, where we collect information directly from the source. The first meeting has now taken place and is more than successful, we may cautiously conclude.
In over thirteen years, Beton & Staalbouw has grown to become the communication platform on concrete and steel in the Dutch and Belgian construction industry. A strong name with a large reach. Not only as a print magazine, but increasingly online on the many different channels. With our articles we do not (always) dive very deep into the technology. We mainly keep you as readers informed about what is happening in the industry and what is possible with concrete and steel. And that is no small thing. The starting point of this first meeting was therefore to exchange views on the industry. To this end, we invited a mixed group of experts who are a good reflection of the market. In no particular order they were:
They were all enthusiastic experts with a great deal of professional knowledge. A lot of interesting topics were discussed, which we will pay attention to in future editions of Concrete & Steel Construction. Too many to list here, but we can lift a corner of the veil. Think of subjects such as the cathodic protection of quay walls, the standardization of bridges and objects, creativity in the world of WWTPs, the use of low CO2 additives in concrete and the advantages of applying higher grades of steel in projects.
We will be developing these and many other concoctions into actual articles in the near future. To be continued! In addition, we will of course continue to pay attention to the latest developments and follow the sustainability task closely. We are already looking forward to the next meeting of the work field committee in the fall, at which an architect and project developer will also join us.
