Riwal invests in bim library and advice

Riwal, rental and sales specialist of aerial work platforms and telehandlers, has created an online library of Riwal brand BIM families and can support customers with in-house experts advising on which aerial work platforms are best suited for work at height.

Free online BIM files Riwal machines
Riwal has BIM (Building Information Modeling) files of aerial platform models, which are part of its fleet, branded Riwal. Each aerial platform can be found for free online at bimobject.com or on the Riwal Web site. The files can also be accessed through the My Riwal customer portal. The 3D boom lift models are from reputable manufacturers such as JLG, Genie, Skyjack and Nifty Lift. The goal is to eventually make all machines from Riwal's fleet (whose BIM files are available) available online.

Realistic planning
These models with relevant data can be applied in BIM projects that can be used to virtually create the construction site. This allows contractors to make realistic plans and anticipate where which machines are needed. The insight into the planning and resulting work provides all parties with the information needed for working at height. The feedback of this information in BIM strengthens co-creation and thus cooperation between all parties in different phases of the building life cycle.

Expert BIM advice
In addition, Riwal has established a BIM consulting department that has expert consultants who can advise customers on which aerial work platforms are best suited for work at height and then add the BIM families directly to the virtual construction site. In this co-creation process, cost, machine selection and space requirements are considered with customers as early as the development phase.

BIM Library

We increasingly see especially in large construction projects that the contractor becomes responsible for the maintenance of a building. Therefore, it is particularly interesting to take into account the required maintenance already during the development of the building process, in an atrium, for example. Questions such as: can the machine go in? In what place should the aerial platform be located to reach everything? Can a cheaper aerial platform be used if a door is wider or higher? can be answered preventively, reducing unforeseen costs and failure costs.

In this way, Riwal acts as a supplier and expert, meeting all the customer's needs when working at height.

René Timmers, Riwal Chief Financial Officer and responsible for digital and IT developments, commented, "Riwal places a strong emphasis on innovation and believes that these BIM models will help our customers plan their work more efficiently. By advising our customers on projects with BIM technology, we aim to make our customers' work easier and more efficient, allowing us to provide the best customer experience in the industry."
