New formula makes floor hard-wearing, durable and fully recyclable
On August 18, SC Cambuur's new Kooi stadium officially kicked off in Leeuwarden. A new phase is dawning, and not just for the illustrious grassroots club. Over 10,000 square meters of Eco2floor poured, a sustainable poured screed based on blast furnace slag that has undergone significant development over the past year. This new eco2floor proved itself in this prestigious project. The poured screed cures quickly, is economical, has a hard top layer and, above all, is durable.
In a steady stream of concrete mixers, the eco2floor from Kijlstra's concrete plant in Drachten to the stadium construction site in Leeuwarden. The renewed poured screed was rapidly processed in the hospitality strip behind the stands and in two supermarkets in the stadium. Within a few days, Rikkert Afbouwgroep from Enter processed a total of over five hundred cubic meters of eco2floor.
The speed of application, curing and drying with hardly any shrinkage are just some of the advantages of the improved composition of eco2floor. Manfred Mille is technical support consultant for Ecocem, the manufacturer of this innovative poured screed. "Since the introduction of eco2floor several years ago, we were in constant contact with our dealers and processors to hear from them where there was room for improvement. That led to a number of adjustments in the raw materials and formula used. We went back to the drawing board and developed our new eco2floor performs even better in a number of areas."
The main advantage of the improved composition is the hardness and quality of the top layer. Once the floor has hardened, this layer is now so hard and abrasion-resistant that no additional special primers or topcoat hardeners are needed to further finish the floor. The new formula is also more tolerant of the various hardening conditions that occur in construction so that additional measures can almost always be omitted. Combined with the improved processing behavior, this all adds up to substantial savings in construction time, reducing eco2floor is more advantageous in execution.
The eco2floor screed can be used in commercial buildings, offices and homes, in both dry and wet areas. In the composition of the cast floor, much of the cement has been replaced by blast furnace slag. Cement is one of the main contributors to CO2 in construction and worldwide account for nearly 8% of all CO2-emissions. Ecocem, producer of eco2floor, is pioneering high-quality technology that reduces CO2-emissions from the cement and construction industries are substantially reduced. The eco2floor screed is highly durable and also fully recyclable. The floor thus has value at the end of its service life.
eco2floor has a number of advantages over anhydrite floors. Besides its recyclability and applicability in wet areas, these are its flatness, drying time and finishing capabilities because cementitious adhesives can be applied directly to the floor. Also compared to a sand cement floor, Eco2floor numerous advantages. First of all, the floor is cast in an occupational health and safety-friendly manner and quickly instead of being applied by hand. In addition, the floor works much more efficiently in combination with underfloor heating, a thinner layer is sufficient and the floor is much flatter. Through a nationwide dealer and processor network, the economical eco2floor available almost everywhere. As a result, this durable cast floor solution not only has fans at Cambuur in Leeuwarden.
