The National Steel Prize is (since 1972) Building with Steel's biennial award for inspiring applications of steel in construction. This year, you can enter the prize with new construction and renovation projects completed in 2021 or 2020. Projects abroad can also participate. For these projects, at least two project partners must be Dutch nationals.

Registration is open until June 15, 2022 via www.nationalestaalprijs.nl/#inschrijven

This is easily done by creating an account. If you have previously registered, for example for the 2020 award, your account is probably still active.

Your entries for the National Steel Award 2022 can - if you wish - also compete for the separate National Sustainability Award Steel 2022. If so, please check the Sustainability Award option when entering and provide the requested (additional) information.

Building with Steel looks forward to receiving your entry(s). If you have any questions or comments about entering, please contact Marco Pauw, marco@bouwenmetstaal.nl

Participation information can be found in this invitation and at www.nationalestaalprijs.nl

Judging

National Steel Prize 2022.

The professional jury judges the entries for the National Steel Award in each of the five participation categories: non-residential construction, industrial construction, residential construction, infrastructure and characteristic steel building components.

For each category, the jury may nominate one or more projects for a 2020 National Steel Award. From the nominations, the jury will then choose the winner(s).

National Sustainability Award Steel 2022.

In addition to the National Steel Award, the National Steel Sustainability Award is a cross-category prize intended for the entry that the judges believe scores best on environmental friendliness and sustainability.

From the projects also entered for this sustainability award, the jury can choose one or more nominations and then the winner National Sustainability Award Steel 2022.

Thumb of the Jury.

This year, the jury also has a "Thumb of the Jury" up its sleeve. With the Thumb, the jury can express its esteem or sympathy for the project that (of all the participating projects) is not immediately conspicuous due to its small size but still stands out thanks to a surprisingly exemplary or groundbreaking application of steel.

The jury criteria and terms of participation can be found in the regulations National Steel Prize 2022.

Announcement of nominations and winners

After the judging, in June, Building with Steel will announce the nominated projects. The award winners will be announced on the Staalbouwdag 2022, Tuesday, October 4, at the AFAS Theater in Leusden.

All projects participating in the National Steel Prize 2022 are published on www.nationalestaalprijs.nl, www.betonenstaalbouw.nl and in the October 2022 issue of the trade journal Concrete & Steel Construction.
