PERI BeNeLux expands with storage yard in Rumst

PERI BeNeLux has had an additional 10,000 m² site in Rumst since July. The site is located 9 kilometers from the headquarters in Boom and serves as an additional warehouse for formwork and scaffolding materials. "For a period of at least 3 years, this additional warehouse will support our growth in the Benelux," says Christophe Janssens, Head of Operations at PERI BeNeLux.

Sustained growth

In Boom, PERI BeNeLux already has a 40,000 m² site. But due to the continued growth of the company, expansion was imminent. Christophe Janssens: "In 2019, we determined that the current locations in Boom and Schijndel (NL) were becoming too small. We then started looking for an expansion of around 10,000 m² and with the site in Rumst we found such a location during the spring, about 9 kilometers from our site in Boom and close to the E19. We have been renting the site since July 1 and for a period of at least 3 years. For PERI this is an excellent interim solution, in order to evolve in the future towards expansion in the Netherlands. There the focus will be very much on our scaffolding materials, which are currently firmly on the rise."

Especially materials such as VT and GT carriers and products that are less frequently rented or sold will have a place in Rumst.

Extra storage space

The site in Rumst will be used to accommodate overstock for both the Netherlands and Belgium. The size of the site, 10,000 m², has been calculated based on the expected growth over the next 5 years. Christophe Janssens: "The site will therefore gradually fill up, giving us enough time and space to be able to stock certain temporary and seasonal overflows or periods when a lot of material returns. Especially materials such as VT and GT carriers and products that are less frequently rented or sold, the so-called slow movers, will be given a place in Rumst, but of course the additional supplies of scaffolding material will also be provided in a first phase. It is also certainly not excluded that we will house other activities or services there in the coming years. I am thinking, for example, of carrying out repairs."

Full-scale PERI site

Although the new warehouse in Rumst is a temporary solution, the site will function as a full-fledged and structured PERI site in the coming years. "The intention is to set up the site as a full-fledged stockyard in 2021, with defined areas and loading and unloading bays," Christophe Janssens clarified. "The site is currently already equipped with a temporary site container to correctly house our people, and investments are also being made in an automatic access gate. There is also a real chance that some employees will be employed in Rumst."

Logical step

For PERI BeNeLux, the expansion of the site is a logical step in the growth process. "In the field of formwork, PERI BeNeLux has been experiencing natural growth of several percent per year for years. Scaffolding construction is actually registering double-digit growth rates and the headquarters is therefore very much focused on the scaffolding segment. In view of this growth in scaffolding construction, further expansion in the Netherlands is being investigated," Christophe Janssens concludes.
