BTE Group acquires Steenhuis Beton

Staff remains employed, name and place of business unchanged

The BTE Group is acquiring Steenhuis Beton, a company based in Uithuizermeeden, Groningen. Agreement on the acquisition was reached on April 8 and will be effected in the coming weeks. With the acquisition of the specialist in precast concrete stairs and landings, BTE is strengthening its position in the market. BTE expects Steenhuis to grow gradually over time.

All 47 employees will remain employed by Steenhuis. The company is primarily active in residential and commercial construction. Steenhuis Beton has an excellent reputation and is known for its high quality and specialist knowledge. This makes it a good fit with the BTE Group. The acquisition was completed on April 8 and will be ratified later this month.

The BTE Group consists of several precast concrete companies and a concrete technology center, each with its own specialties. All companies operate independently in the market and produce at their own locations. This will soon also be the case at Steenhuis. Thanks to its broad product range, BTE operates in 95% of all construction sectors. The concrete company has an annual turnover of 170 million euros in the Netherlands and Germany.

Potential
,,Steenhuis is an excellent addition to our current activities" says BTE Group general manager Bart van Melick. ,,It fits well within our company and our vision, not least because Steenhuis has a high sense of quality and an excellent reputation and is also a specialist. Last but not least, it has potential. Many new high-rise buildings are coming up in the near future. Also, non-residential construction is only increasing." The concrete company in the north of the country is an innovative and sustainable company with excellent personnel, according to Van Melick.

Steenhuis Concrete

Since 1913
The Steenhuis family business has existed since 1913 and was founded by Evert Steenhuis. In 1980, the company moved to its current location. Since that time, Steenhuis has increasingly focused on the production of precast concrete stairs and landings. It has its own braiding shop, model making and engineering department. This allows Steenhuis to produce quickly and flexibly.

Little changes for the market at the Uithuizermeeden-based company. Van Melick: ,,Steenhuis will remain an independent company for the market, just like BTE's other brands. The name will be retained, as will the location. Slowly, however, synergies will develop, such as in the areas of finance, human resources, purchasing, knowledge and innovation."

Wish List
The Steenhuis brothers were looking for a healthy takeover candidate because there was no successor in the family circle. BTE was the best fit. Jan and Evan Steenhuis are satisfied: ,,We have worked all our working lives to create a beautiful company and we think we have certainly succeeded. We therefore wanted a new owner who would not only continue our work, but also add value. The BTE Group fully meets our wish list. We are confident that they will take good care of our baby."

,,When a quality company with continuity -such as Steenhuis Beton- comes to us, we are of course interested. We are proud that such a fine company is becoming part of BTE." says BTE general manager Bart van Melick.
