It started small, on April 9, 2022. Bruno Dursin decided to make a LinkedIn post about architect Dominique Perrault, who likes working with steel ánd had a birthday that day. There was also a post on April 10, this time about the birthday engineer Arthur Vierendeel. Bruno wondered: would it be possible to make a daily post about steel, each time with a link to the date?
Bruno locked himself in his office, went to work on his idea and only emerged two days later. He had the topics for the first two weeks ready. In the year that followed, he managed to post an interesting article, including beautiful photos, about steel every day: think buildings, bridges, design or art.
The number of followers increased rapidly and his posts were viewed by more and more people. On average, each post received over 6,000 views with peaks of over 50,000. His project was seen as so inspiring that Bruno was frequently asked to turn it into a book.
And so it happened. The result will be published on March 8, 2024. The book '365 days of steel' is an ode to steel in all its wonderful versatility. Bruno: 'With this book I hope to enthuse architects, engineers, builders and steel constructors. So much is possible with steel! It is strong, but light. It can be bent and folded, stands the test of time without any problems, can be disassembled and reused and is already recyclable for more than 90%'. Niels Oudenaarden, Liemar: 'This book shows a wide variety of projects with steel and is therefore hugely inspiring. At Liemar we are always fans of steel projects and already a fan of this book. We have therefore already ordered a number of copies and will of course be present at the book launch in Ghent on March 7.'
